Guaranteed Way to Make Someone's Day!
People often classify random acts of kindness as selfless ways to serve others, but it’s in giv-ing that you receive. Here are some simple ways you can brighten an unsuspecting per-son’s day.
First Reading:
Today’s First Reading, with the exception of
the last line, offers a fitting description of
the life and ministry of John the Baptist.
John’s mission was solely to the Jewish
people. Jesus, however, was sent as “ a
light for the nations”-for the whole world,
Gentiles as well as Jews. We see this
throughout Jesus’ ministry. Jesus, the
Lamb of God, takes away the sins of the
whole world.
Second Reading:
In this reading Paul speaks to the universal-
ity of Jesus’ life and message. John the
Baptist’s message was to the people of Isra-
el. With the appearance of Jesus, member-
ship in ‘God’s holy people’ is open to all who
accept him as Lord.
Gospel:
The title Lamb of God is significant, for at the
end of the fourth Gospel Jesus is put to death
at the very time the Passover lambs are
slaughtered for the annual commemoration of
Israel’s Exodus from Egypt. Passing through
death into the fullness of life, Jesus poured
out his Spirit of Life and Light on all who be-
lieve.
