The Hunna – The 100

The entire creation of The Hunnas first and only album: ‘The 100’ is the Hertfordshire bands debut album consisting of 16 alternative rock songs. The album was released on the 28th August and has been designed in a monochrome theme that is consistent throughout, this theme is accompanied with elements of gold which combine together to create a really effective digipack with terrific colour contrast. A marble effect has also been implemented to add texture and interest to the cover, I like this style as its sophisticated and well presented.

Colour palette of the albums front cover artwork.

The album spine is very simplistic. For the majority of albums released the spine is generically where the catalogue number is located however The Hunna have gone against the conventions of an average album design and have left the spine as clear as possible. The only information on the spine is the band name and the album name.

To the left is an open layout of the album. A four panel digipack template has been used to create this album. To add the disk has the same design as the front cover artwork which I feel works really well. I also like how the album has been signed which rarely happens (Especially with mainstream artists/ bands)

The Hunna – The 100

‘The 100’ album front cover is actually a booklet that involves song lyrics to each of the 16 songs, in addition to: Images of the band; crediting key people that were involved in the production and post production of the music videos. For example, the producer and the creative director. The booklet also contains a summary of how grateful they are to their fans as a start-up band with their first album recently released.

The back cover of the album is much darker than the front cover. I like this contrast especially how the colour palette remains in a consistent monochrome theme even though the colour shift. Another aspect which I like is the thin and long barcode that has been centralised the same as the song names have been.

As The Hunna are a relatively new band t hat have only properly came into the light of the music industry, they have very few magazine adverts (Assumedly due to financial aspects) The Hunna however were highly active on social media. Primarily: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter in addition to YouTube where they joined “The Hyve” which is a music video channel dedicated to indie/ alternative music. “The Hyve” has a modest 128,945 subscribers and features hundreds, perhaps thousands of indie/ alternatives songs and bands. The Hunna collectively used all the social media platforms to create a major fan base which grows daily. The band regularly interacts with fans and frequently updates them with the latest news regarding The Hunna. This was crucial when releasing their first and only album: ‘The 100’
