A31 Luger 32 Round Snail-drum Magazine. R 8500.00First model, made by Bing Brothers Nuremberg. "B/N" code to both sides of magazine as is Serial number 73104. The numbers "12", "17", "27" & "32" are stamped around the circumference of the magazine bottom. WW1 vintage. Much original blue with some scattered light surface pitting with brown patina over pitting. No dents & fully functional. Good overall.

B1 Williamson Bros S/S Percussion Cape Gun R 7500.00Eleven bore [smooth barrel] / Fifteen bore[winged bullet] combination. Breech end of barrels marked "WIILLIAMSON BROS & Co, LONDON" as are locks. The 30 inch barrels are of attractive damascus steel. Scroll engraving to locks. Burred nipple on LHS and a couple of scratches to the stock but overall in very good original condition.

Fourteen bore/.50 [49ga.] winged bullet combination gun. The excellently patterned damascus 30" (762mm) barrels are surmounted by a 1" wide, heavy, top rib with 1" markings for 20inches, have 1 x fixed & six folding leaf rear sights. Broad top rib marked "JOHN HAYTON GRAHAMSTOWN 6068" . Excellent, bold Damascus pattern to barrels with British Proof & view marks plus "S & J.W" initials to both barrels. The locks marked "JOHN HAYTON ", plus extensive engraving to triggerguard & patchbox which contains original projectiles & wads. Apart from a very small chip of the forearm on the RHS, the gun is in exceptionally good original condition and one of the best specimens to come onto the South African market. The ramrod could be a replacement.

B3 John Hayton S/S percussion Cape Gun. R 29500.00Another, nearly identical gun. 30 inch damascus barrels, heavy top rib, 1" wide with 20 x 1inch markings. Similar markings & sights to barrels. Right hand shot barrel of 18 bore, left hand 50bore for winged bullet. Very clean stock with a fancy patchbox, engraved with a lion on the cover. Patchbox contains a very scarce "Goalpost" rear sight which slides along the top rib. Ramrod missing, rest very good plus original condition. VGC.

The stock of medium coloured dense walnut with flat-top chequering and a pleasing figure. A patchbox is inletted on the RHS with extensive engraving to it. Barrels have unfortunately been reblued rather than browned. Good refinished condition.

Marked "HUSQVARNA VAPENFABRIKS A.B" on left of slide and "S.S" with crown on rear of frame. Complete with original grips, magazine and matching numbers throughout. Excellent almost-new original condition, original finish on all parts. Bore excellent. This was the official sidearm of the Swedes from 1940 to 1990 but it is quite rare as only 83,950 were made. The pistol has some very unusual features and was especially designed to work in very cold weather. It is the only pistol known to incorporate an accelerator to assist the opening of the slide in cold weather.

The Steyr-Hahn was one of the first pistols to incorporate a rotating-barrel locked-breech design. D5 .476 Lancaster 4-Barrel Pistol R 34500.00Popular in the mid-late 19th century with colonial officers, the 4-barrel Lancaster offered reliability, a rapid rate of fire and stopping power. Approx 712 of these pistols were manufactured. Top break with a LHS lever, 6" (152mm) barrels with Lancaster's unique oval bore rifling which gives the appearance of unrifled barrels. Barrel rib marked "CHARLES LANCASTER PATENT 151 NEW BOND St. LONDON" & ".476C.F." . Folding extension to trigger. Birds' head grips are of a dark chequered walnut and in good condition. Barrels & frame have approx 50% original finish with balance faded to a plum brown colour. Metalwork displays some scattered & light surface pitting marks under the finish. Mechanically excellent.

Gold-plated and engraved receiver, engraved magazine box, inlaid emblem on wooden stock etc. These rifles were made for the Duke's guard of honour. It is generally accepted that only 50 of these rifles were made by Berretta during WW2. Rifle is complete, functional and fully original with integral folding bayonet, original finish on all parts and in excellent condition. Significant South African heritage as these rifles were liberated by South African military forces during WW2 when the Transvaal Scottish took the Duke's headquarters at Amba Alagi on May 19th 1941.

Under the patina the walnut stock and forearm are both good pieces of figured walnut.

The top rib engraved "ARTHUR E.B. WILKINSON. BIRMINGHAM" . The action with a cross-bolt, has 75% cover with scroll engraving and both locks show "A.E.B.WILKINSON" . The dark walnut, with nice figure, has 20 LPI flat-top chequering on the pistol grip sides, also on the forearm. LOP is 14 3/8" to the front trigger and 13 1/2" to the rear. The top-rib is lifting at the muzzle owing to rust forming between the barrels, rest good original condition.

The bores are remarkably good, only the right with some very light pitting. Barrels to action lock-up is tight. Action bears "FRED.T. BAKER, 88 FLEET STREET, LONDON" on both sides with some fine scrollwork over 95% of the surface. Wood is particularly well figured and barred walnut. LOP is 14 1/2" to front trigger, 13 7/8" to the rear. A non-ejector, auto-safety model. Good plus overall.

Both bores marked 17, so slightly undersize, the right choked about half. A modified dolls-head fitted, barrels to action are tight. The top rib engraved "BARRELS FITTED BY CLABROUGH & JOHNSTONE, BIRMINGHAM & LONDON". The fine walnut stock with neat cut chequering at the relaxed pistol grip. The forearm with some damage to the rear of the catch. GC.

F44 12ga J. Lang S/S boxlock Shotgun. Pre-1898. R 2950.00A James Lang gun, the son of the better known Joseph, who briefly went on his own, before returning to the fold. The top-rib shows "JAMES LANG, 18 BROOK STREET, NEW BOND STREET, LONDON". Black powder proofs, the 30" (763mm) damascus barrels have clean bores, choked cylinder on the right and half choke on the left. Loss of finish to the breech end of the barrels. Cross-bolt boxlock action with sideplates is unusual. Very fine scroll engraving over 100% of action metal. Anson push-rod forearm with a small crack at the left rear. Auto-safety extractor. The stock with some figure. A lovely old gun in need of a do-over.

Front trigger has a LOP of 14 1/2 (368mm) and the rear 13 5/8" (345mm), both to a solid rubber butt pad. VGC.

Known as the" Mauser "Zig-Zag Revolver karabiner". The 17,5" octagonal barrel is fitted with two-position folding iron sights and is marked "GEBR MAUSER & Cie, OBERNDORFF A/N WURTTEMBERG 1878" . This marking was only used on Mauser firearms until 1884 when it was replaced by "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER OBERNDORF". Two digit serial number. Sling swivel sweated to the barrel. A loading gate on the RHS of the action is offset by an ingenious safety catch on the LHS. The cylinder with cut-out zig-zag channels is reminiscent of the Webley-Fosbery automatic revolver. Straight-hand walnut butt is chequered to the wrist and fitted with a steel buttplate. Markings to the barrel are still crisp, metalwork has faded to a silver-grey overall colour with a darker hue to the cylinder. Professionally fitted reinforcing dowel to the wrist which has been hidden in the chequering. Also a couple of light dings to the stock immediately below the upper tang. Very good bore, good overall. All mauser zig-zag revolver variations are very rare with 2566 being the highest revolver serial number recorded. The carbines are ultra-scarce and it is unlikely that more than 150 were produced, the highest recorded serial no. of surviving specimens is 125.

S/N 356. The 18" (46cm) barrel has a raised top rib, tilting 2-position L-shaped backsight & good bore. Equipped with a chequered mottled red hard rubber forearm and grips. Forearm colours still bright with crisp chequering. Detachable select grade walnut shoulder stock with black hard rubber butt plate. Six shot cylinder. Action is top-break and ejecting. The detachable stock, LOP of 14 3/8" (365mm), is of dark walnut. Company name & address on the barrels with patent date markings of 1865, 1869, 1871, 1875 & 1877. Fading to original finish on metalwork and build-up of patina. Mechanically sound, good to good plus original condition. Extremely scarce.

1). As used herein, the “bid price” shall mean the price at which a lot is knocked down by the auctioneer, to a purchaser and the term “purchase price” shall mean the aggregate of: a). The bid price, b). A PREMIUM PAYABLE BY THE PURCHASER OF 12,5% OF THE BID PRICE, + VAT at 14% thereon (i.e. a total premium of 14.25%) c). And where specifically stated by the auctioneer VAT at 14% of the bid price. It is recorded that the consignor has authorised Classic Arms to retain the premium payable on each lot as part of our remuneration and that the VAT payable on such premium is in addition to such premium. 2. On the fall of the Hammer the highest bidder will have been deemed to have purchased the lot being offered and to have: a). assumed full responsibility and liability for the ownership of that lot in accordance with the terms and conditions contained herein b). to undertake to settle the aggregate purchase price within a maximum of seven calendar days from the date of sale. In the case of all firearms it is specifically recorded that the purchaser is deemed to have assumed full liability for ownership and payment in accordance with the terms and conditions contained herein irrespective of the granting or not of a South African Police Services licence or permit for possession of the said lot. All lots requiring licences shall be retained by Classic Arms pending proof of issuance of said licences. Should a licence for any lot, for any reason whatsoever, be declined, then the purchaser may require Classic Arms or a registered arms and ammunition dealer of the purchasers choice to resell such lot on the purchasers behalf. Such sale shall be conducted against the prevailing terms and conditions of the chosen dealer at time of resale and, irrespective of the Auction purchase price, at the price determined in agreement with the auction purchaser and the dealer. It is specifically noted that Classic Arms may in no way be held liable for a shortfall if any, between the auction purchase price and the resale price. Under no circumstances shall any lot requiring SAPS licensing be released to any person or body not duly authorised to be in legal possession of said lot, and unless all monies due have been settled in full and in accordance with the terms and conditions contained herein. No lots shall be deemed to have been paid for until all monies due have been delivered in cash or in Bank Cleared funds. All purchases may be paid for in cash, by Master Card or VISA, or American Express or by cashiers or Bank Guaranteed Cheque. A further premium of 5% of the aggregate purchase price including VAT thereon will be levied for all Credit or Charge Card settlements. No cashier’s cheque will be deemed to constitute payment until the effects thereof have been cleared into the Classic Arms Account. If the foregoing or any other conditions contained herein are not complied with by the purchaser, in addition to any other remedies available to us and the consignor by law, including but without limitation to, the right to hold the purchaser liable for the purchase price, then we at our sole discretion may: a). cancel the sale, retaining as liquidation costs any amounts paid by the purchaser, b). resell the property.

3. All payments to be made within 7 days. Property sold at auction and not paid for in full or collected, within 4 (Four) elapsed Months from the date of the auction, shall be deemed to be abandoned UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTIFIED. The auctioneer reserves the right to dispose of the property in any manner he sees fit and recover reasonable administration and/or storage costs from the disposal of said property and/or the purchaser. No subsequent claim arising from such a disposal shall be entertained and the auctioneer may not be held liable for any losses incurred by either the consignor or purchaser, or any other party, in this regard either publicly or privately and in such event to hold the purchaser liable for all costs including our commission and expenses for both sales, all other charges due hereunder, our attorneys fees and incidental charges. All fees commissions, bid prices and duties not settled promptly by the purchaser in terms of this clause 2 shall bear interest at South African Bankers prime lending rate plus 3 percent from the seventh day following the sale until settlement is received in full.

item purchased, Classic Arms reserves the right to charge a storage fee of ZAR 100-00 per calendar month or part thereof. Such fee being payable monthly in advance from the first day of the month within which the four month period shall expire. In the event that the purchaser fails in his obligation to Classic Arms to pay such fee, Classic Arms, may at its own discretion, resell such item to recover such fee. 4. We reserve the right to withdraw any property at any time prior to the actual sale of such property. Unless actually stated by the auctioneer, all lots shall be offered against their catalogued number and no lot shall be divided for sale

5. We reserve the right to reject any bid. The highest bid acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be deemed to be the final bid price. In the event of any dispute between bidders or, if in the sole opinion of the auctioneer he doubts the validity of a bid, the auctioneer shall have the sole right to determine the successful bid or to re-offer the property in dispute for sale. Our sale records shall be conclusive in any dispute during or after conclusion of the sale. 6. If for any reason beyond our control, including but not limited to, fire, theft, acts of God, or insurrection, we are prevented from delivering the property to the purchaser, then we will be liable only for the sum actually paid therefore by the purchaser and shall in no event include payment for consequential or incidental damages. Classic Arms accepts no liability for any losses of whatsoever nature caused by any legislative changes in regard to the possession, by individuals or bodies, of firearms or ammunition. 7. If a lot is offered subject to a reserve (this being the confidential minimum price required by the consignor) then Classic Arms reserves the right to open the bidding or to bid on the consignor’s behalf in order to protect such reserve. 11. Absentee Bids. As a service to those bidders that are unable to attend the actual auction, we may at our sole discretion accept bids in advance of sale by telephone, or in writing on the bidding forms provided in the back of the sale catalogue. Please note that we cannot accept “buy” bids and all bids must clearly state the maximum (excluding buyers premium and any applicable taxes) bid that the bidder is willing to pay. In the event that identical absentee bids are received then the first bid received shall take preference. In the event that the maximum absentee bid is equalled by any bid from the auction floor, then the auction floor bid shall take preference.
