B1 Williamson Bros S/S Percussion Cape Gun R 7500.00Eleven bore [smooth barrel] / Fifteen bore[winged bullet] combination. Breech end of barrels marked "WIILLIAMSON BROS & Co, LONDON" as are locks. The 30 inch barrels are of attractive damascus steel. Scroll engraving to locks. Burred nipple on LHS and a couple of scratches to the stock but overall in very good original condition.

Fourteen bore/.50 [49ga.] winged bullet combination gun. The excellently patterned damascus 30" (762mm) barrels are surmounted by a 1" wide, heavy, top rib with 1" markings for 20inches, have 1 x fixed & six folding leaf rear sights. Broad top rib marked "JOHN HAYTON GRAHAMSTOWN 6068" . Excellent, bold Damascus pattern to barrels with British Proof & view marks plus "S & J.W" initials to both barrels. The locks marked "JOHN HAYTON ", plus extensive engraving to triggerguard & patchbox which contains original projectiles & wads. Apart from a very small chip of the forearm on the RHS, the gun is in exceptionally good original condition and one of the best specimens to come onto the South African market. The ramrod could be a replacement.

B3 John Hayton S/S percussion Cape Gun. R 29500.00Another, nearly identical gun. 30 inch damascus barrels, heavy top rib, 1" wide with 20 x 1inch markings. Similar markings & sights to barrels. Right hand shot barrel of 18 bore, left hand 50bore for winged bullet. Very clean stock with a fancy patchbox, engraved with a lion on the cover. Patchbox contains a very scarce "Goalpost" rear sight which slides along the top rib. Ramrod missing, rest very good plus original condition. VGC.

B4 450/14ga Grainger Cape Gun R 5500.00The gun has been completely restored. A percussion sidelock action, the locks with fine scroll patterns engraved "J.GRAINGER & SON". The heavy barrels, 29, 5" (75cms) long have "J.GRAINGER & SON GRAHAMSTOWN" on the wide top rib. This has a standing back sight and 5 folding leaves. The stock of medium coloured dense walnut with flat-top chequering and a pleasing figure. A patchbox is inletted on the RHS with extensive engraving to it. Barrels have unfortunately been reblued rather than browned. Good refinished condition.

B5 H James S/S Flintlock Smoothbore Gun R 17500.00Ten gauge "LONDON" marked 42" damascus barrels. Flintlock stepped lockplates marked "H.JAMES ". Engraving to lockplates & cocks. The stock of straight-grained walnut, roach-bellied with flat-top 16 LPI chequering, shadow-line cheekpiece and steel butt plate. An inlaid German silver floral bouquet at the hand of the stock similar to the Whitworth wheatsheaf trademark. Scarce & good to good plus original condition.

B6 Bentley & Playfair Four-bore Percussion Rifle. R 16500.00Smoothbored 33 inch flat-top damascus barrel with under-rib. Rearsight missing, low blade foresight. Lock & barrel both marked to "BENTLEY & PLAYFAIR" . Double-set trigger & extended tang to trigger-guard. Gouge to butt, sliver chips to fore-end at barrel line and missing German silver wedge plate to fore-end. Ramrod missing. Classic big-bore elephant rifle, fair to good original condition. Would clean-up well with minimal effort.

B8 Six bore Jones Flintlock sporting Rifle R 7500.00Engraved, stepped sidelock marked "JONES ". Octagonal breech end of fullstock 36,6" rifled barrel marked "LONDON" with "Ster" marking near the muzzle. Low profile single-leaf rear sight. The multi-grooved bore measures .895". Straight-grained walnut roach-bellied stock has two small sliver chips at barrel stock join. Good to good plus original condition.

The breech marked "G.BARNES, METFORD RIFLING A&T". The ‌33 inch barrel of .451 calibre has micro-adjustable tunnel target front sight and tang-mounted target back sight marked to; "THE WHITWORTH COMPANY LIMITED". In addition, the barrel has a leaf & ladder rear sight with micro-adjustable ladder element. The latter missing its standing leaf. Under-rib to barrel, horn fore-end tip & gripcap. Wrap-around chequering to fore-end. Flat-topped 20 LPI chequering. Steel buttplate. Excellent bore, rifle is in particularly good original condition. Later period leather target sling loop fitted.

B10 Brunswick percussion service Rifle R 4500.00Lock engraved "V.R". under a crown and "1861 TOWER" . The 30" (724mm) fullstock barrel is designed to accept a belted ball. Brass fore-end tip, pipes, triggerguard, patchbox & buttplate. Bayonet lug to barrel for sword bayonet. Ramrod missing, fair to good original condition.

B11 .50 Centurion Muzzleloader R 2150.00A modern offering. Stainless steel barrel of 60cm (23 5/8") length. Straight-pull bolt, in-line ignition. Polymer stock and alloy trigger guard. As new.

B12 Pepperbox Revolving Pistol R 1950.00Six shot barrel, approx 9mm bores, 70mm long. The action nicely floral engraved. Rear strap engraved with "PARKES, LONDON" . Needs a spring replaced, otherwise good condition.

B13 O/U Flintlock Pistol R 4500.00Appears to be of Balkan origin ca. late 1700's. Rotating barrels with single cock & lock. Engraved steel ball to butt with reinforcing tangs. Engraving to lock & triggerguard which has faded with age. Some very fine, age-related surface pitting to 9,25" octagon to round .54cal. barrels. Beautifully barred walnut stock, some shrinkage/cracking of wood alongside barrels. An ornate pistol that would benefit from professional attention. Good working order.

The previous S.A. coat of arms features on both the pierced guard and etched blade. "SOUTH AFRICA. SUID AFRIKA " also features on both sides of the blade. "WILKINSON SWORD CO. LTD LONDON" features at the ricasso as does the special "Best Quality" Wilkinson hall mark. In good condition apart from moderate weathering to one side of the blade and correct leather strapping patch to scabbard.

C15 British Patt. 1912 Cavalry Officer's Sword R 6000.00British officer's 1912 pattern sword complete with scabbard. The previous S.A. coat of arms features on the etched blade as does "SOUTH AFRICA/SUID AFRIKA" . The guard is embossed. The special "Best Quality" Wilkinson hall mark features at the ricasso. In very good condition.

C16 Scottish Basket-Hilted Broadsword R 4500.00Scottish Officers Basket-Hilted Broadsword complete with scabbard. The rare ERVIII (Edward the 8th,the "King Who Never Was") cypher features on the embossed blade. "M.ANDERSON & SONS LTD. 16 GEORGE STREET EDINBURGH" features at the ricasso as does the Wilkinson Hall Mark. While the sword is in good condition the leather towards the end of the scabbard has broken and some of the stitching has come apart. The damage is repairable.

A South African Naval Officer's Dress sword complete with scabbard and sword knot. The previous S.A. Coat of Arms and the fouled anchor feature on the embossed blade and the fouled anchor features on the brass guard. Has a white ray skin grip. "W.K.C. SOLINGEN GERMAN : and "STAINLESS " to blade.

C18 Japanese Ceremonial/Court sword-Tachi style. R 7500.00Ceremonial Japanese Tachi style sword complete with an elaborate hilt, scabbard and laminated blade. The grip is covered in an ornate brass alloy as is the matching scabbard. The grip and scabbard feature fish and water lilies in different coloured metal as other elaborate patterns. A very pleasing overall effect. In excellent condition. There are no markings on the tang.

C19 British L1A3 Bayonet. R 500.0020cm (8") clip-point single-edged blade has a 3/4 length fuller on both sides; good condition. Ex British & Rhodesian Armies.

C20 Socket Bayonet & Scabbard. R 750.00The 535mm long scabbard is very well preserved, leather covered over wood with a brass chape bottom finial. The brass hanger shows"39 ML 100 ". The socket bayonet does not match the scabbard and has been shortened. Its origin is unknown.

C21 Masai Simi R 650.00The 43cm (16 7/8") double-edged leaf-shaped blade is 65mm at its widest point. The blade has some light rust patches, easily fixed. The traditional scabbard of wood covered with dried cow intestine is very tight and needs internal greasing.

C22 Mauser S98/05nA Bayonet R 1650.00Also known as the "Butcher blade". The 365mm blade tapers outward towards the point to 32mm. Broad shallow fuller for 7/8ths of the blade on both sides. Tang marked "C.DIETRICH ALTENBURG" on one side and "GEBR. HARIKOPF SOLINGEN " on the other. Last model which was made without the sawback blade. All in good condition.

C23 Nepalese Ceremonial Kukri R 950.00Bone hilt with brass decoration. 245mm blade deeply engraved. Very elaborately decorated scabbard showing elephant-headed god, "NEPAL" , and ying-yang symbol amongst much else. The obligatory 2 small knives included. Excellent condition.

C24 Gurkha Army type Kukri R 850.00Engraved on the 280mm heavy blade. The scabbard with brass decoration - "NEPAL ", a wreath and some coins. The usual two small knives are present and overall excellent condition. Copy of military Kukri built for the tourist trade.

D1 9mmP Husqvarna M40 Lahti Pistol R 14500.00Original Husqvarna M40 Lahti military pistol in 9mm Para caliber. Marked "HUSQVARNA VAPENFABRIKS A.B" on left of slide and "S.S" with crown on rear of frame. Complete with original grips, magazine and matching numbers throughout. Excellent almost-new original condition, original finish on all parts. Bore excellent. This was the official sidearm of the Swedes from 1940 to 1990 but it is quite rare as only 83,950 were made. The pistol has some very unusual features and was especially designed to work in very cold weather. It is the only pistol known to incorporate an accelerator to assist the opening of the slide in cold weather.

Complete with original 6-shot removable magazine and original wooden grips (not cracked or chipped). Very good original condition, fully functional, original finish on all parts. This pistol is one of only 4840 pistols built for the Danish Army in 1910. (Danish Army acceptance number 3553 also stamped on gun). Marked "ANCIENS ETABLISSEMENTS PIEPER, HERSTAL-LIEGE, BERMANN'S PATENT" on left of slide. Numerous military acceptance proof marks on barrel.

D3 9mm Steyr-Hahn M1912 Pistol R 16500.00Original Steyr-Hahn military model 1912 pistol in 9mm Steyr caliber. Marked "STEYR 1916" on left side and "W.n 16" on right side of frame above trigger guard. Complete with original wooden grips and matching numbers throughout. Excellent original condition, original finish on all parts. Bore very good. The Steyr-Hahn was one of the first pistols to incorporate a rotating-barrel locked-breech design. This locking mechanism was very strong, enabling the gun to be chambered for the powerful 9mm Steyr (9x23mm) cartridge.

Black chequered hard rubber grips marked "Simplex". Detachable, double stack extended magazine in front of the trigger guard. Raised rib on the barrel which is 2 5/8" (67mm) long with a good plus bore. Some light mottling and abrasion to the frame and barrel, approx 70% original finish remaining. .Available information is that less than 4000 of this model were made, production commencing in 1899. Good to good plus original condition.

D5 .476 Lancaster 4-Barrel Pistol R 34500.00Popular in the mid-late 19th century with colonial officers, the 4-barrel Lancaster offered reliability, a rapid rate of fire and stopping power. Approx 712 of these pistols were manufactured. Top break with a LHS lever, 6" (152mm) barrels with Lancaster's unique oval bore rifling which gives the appearance of unrifled barrels. Barrel rib marked "CHARLES LANCASTER PATENT 151 NEW BOND St. LONDON" & ".476C.F." . Folding extension to trigger. Birds' head grips are of a dark chequered walnut and in good condition. Barrels & frame have approx 50% original finish with balance faded to a plum brown colour. Metalwork displays some scattered & light surface pitting marks under the finish. Mechanically excellent.

Slide shows "COLT'S PT FA MFG CO, HARTFORD, CT,USA" and "patented apr 20 1897, Sept 9 1902". Good original overall.

The 70cm (27.5") octagonal barrel slightly tapered, good bore, iron sights, standard short "Plesier" type rear sight with a ladder out to 1100m. Hooded, windage adjustable foresight is complete with adjusting key. The slim sporter stock with slight schnabel and flat sides at the action. Rounded relaxed pistol grip with hand-cut chequering 20 LPI with borders, also small wrap-around forearm pattern. Slight cheekpiece. Rifle has original 3-digit number to barrel & action below stock. Later visible number added to barrel. All correct but for unmarked brass plate on side of stock which would originally have housed a silver or silver plated escutcheon plate carrying owners name. Rifle is undoubtedly one of the best Plesier Mausers encountered to date. In exceptionally good condition. VGC.

F29 6.5mm Beretta Carcano "Duke of Aosta" Carbine R 27500.00Original Beretta Carcano ceremonial carbine made for the "Duke of Aosta" in 1939. Gold-plated and engraved receiver, engraved magazine box, inlaid emblem on wooden stock etc. These rifles were made for the Duke's guard of honour. It is generally accepted that only 50 of these rifles were made by Berretta during WW2. Rifle is complete, functional and fully original with integral folding bayonet, original finish on all parts and in excellent condition. Significant South African heritage as these rifles were liberated by South African military forces during WW2 when the Transvaal Scottish took the Duke's headquarters at Amba Alagi on May 19th 1941.

A small chip next to the operating lever socket has been repaired with a wood screw. The 26 1/2" (673mm) barrel has a surprisingly reasonable bore, allowing for the corrosive primers of the time. Under the patina the walnut stock and forearm are both good pieces of figured walnut.

Right-hand smoothbore barrel with pitting near the breech, the rifle barrel in pretty good condition. Barrel length 30" (762mm), heavy raised top rib with 6 leafed rear sight out to 500yds. Sidelocks marked "W.JEFFERY & SON, PLYMOUTH" engraved with a setter and a gamebird. Unusual firing pin retracting system to hammers. Forearm chequering worn, stock repaired at the hand by two big brass plates. The wood is fine and highly figured. A very thick butt pad fitted. One for the collector with time on his hands.

The 30" barrels are pretty rough, the smoothbore being pitted and dented. Forearm is held on with a cable tie. The butt with a metal plate repair to the hand. The wood plain straight grained walnut. The action with a JONES rotary underlever. The locks show rabbits presumably in a churchyard as the tombstone is engraved with "G.E.LEWIS" . Fair overall.

A sidelock extractor action with nitro proof marks for 1 1/4oz loads. The 30" (762 mm) steel barrels have good bores and are choked 1/4 to the right barrel and Full to the left. The top rib engraved "ARTHUR E.B. WILKINSON. BIRMINGHAM" . The action with a cross-bolt, has 75% cover with scroll engraving and both locks show "A.E.B.WILKINSON" . The dark walnut, with nice figure, has 20 LPI flat-top chequering on the pistol grip sides, also on the forearm. LOP is 14 3/8" to the front trigger and 13 1/2" to the rear. The top-rib is lifting at the muzzle owing to rust forming between the barrels, rest good original condition.

F42 12ga Baker Boxlock S/S Shotgun. Pre-1898. R 4500.00Finely figured damascus 30" barrels marked "Not for Ball"; dating the gun between 1875 and 1887. The bores are remarkably good, only the right with some very light pitting. Barrels to action lock-up is tight. Action bears "FRED.T. BAKER, 88 FLEET STREET, LONDON" on both sides with some fine scrollwork over 95% of the surface. Wood is particularly well figured and barred walnut. LOP is 14 1/2" to front trigger, 13 7/8" to the rear. A non-ejector, auto-safety model. Good plus overall.

F43 16ga MacNaughton Shotgun R 2950.00An extractor boxlock model, the 29 7/8" barrels have good bores and are nitro-proofed for a 1oz (28gr) load. Both bores marked 17, so slightly undersize, the right choked about half. A modified dolls-head fitted, barrels to action are tight. The top rib engraved "BARRELS FITTED BY CLABROUGH & JOHNSTONE, BIRMINGHAM & LONDON". The fine walnut stock with neat cut chequering at the relaxed pistol grip. The forearm with some damage to the rear of the catch. GC.

F44 12ga J. Lang S/S boxlock Shotgun. Pre-1898. R 2950.00A James Lang gun, the son of the better known Joseph, who briefly went on his own, before returning to the fold. The top-rib shows "JAMES LANG, 18 BROOK STREET, NEW BOND STREET, LONDON". Black powder proofs, the 30" (763mm) damascus barrels have clean bores, choked cylinder on the right and half choke on the left. Loss of finish to the breech end of the barrels. Cross-bolt boxlock action with sideplates is unusual. Very fine scroll engraving over 100% of action metal. Anson push-rod forearm with a small crack at the left rear. Auto-safety extractor. The stock with some figure. A lovely old gun in need of a do-over.

The 70cm barrels (27,5") show slight pitting on both smoothbores, the 8mm barrel with good rifling. The left barrel shows 16.2 over 16.9 for the choked barrel. The right is 16.9mm - cylinder. With a dolls-head extension for lock-up the action to barrels is tight. The back-action hammerlocks are engraved with a pair of deer; nicely chequered forearm and stock pistol grip to 20 LPI. Front trigger has a LOP of 14 1/2 (368mm) and the rear 13 5/8" (345mm), both to a solid rubber butt pad. VGC.

Iron sights, the rear a 3 blade leaf to 500 yds. A 5 shot magazine is fitted. Some light scroll engraving about the action surfaces. Butt socket marked "BSA.Co" . Under the dark finish there is rather choice walnut with user wear to the forearm chequering on the RHS. The .375 Express cartridge is obsolete. "Army & Navy markings to dustcover. Good condition.

Known as the" Mauser "Zig-Zag Revolver karabiner". The 17,5" octagonal barrel is fitted with two-position folding iron sights and is marked "GEBR MAUSER & Cie, OBERNDORFF A/N WURTTEMBERG 1878" . This marking was only used on Mauser firearms until 1884 when it was replaced by "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER OBERNDORF". Two digit serial number. Sling swivel sweated to the barrel. A loading gate on the RHS of the action is offset by an ingenious safety catch on the LHS. The cylinder with cut-out zig-zag channels is reminiscent of the Webley-Fosbery automatic revolver. Straight-hand walnut butt is chequered to the wrist and fitted with a steel buttplate. Markings to the barrel are still crisp, metalwork has faded to a silver-grey overall colour with a darker hue to the cylinder. Professionally fitted reinforcing dowel to the wrist which has been hidden in the chequering. Also a couple of light dings to the stock immediately below the upper tang. Very good bore, good overall. All mauser zig-zag revolver variations are very rare with 2566 being the highest revolver serial number recorded. The carbines are ultra-scarce and it is unlikely that more than 150 were produced, the highest recorded serial no. of surviving specimens is 125.

F79 .320 S&W Revolving Rifle. Pre-1898. R 80000.00The most unusual of the New Model No.3 family is the revolving rifle, first introduced in 1879 with 977 produced, production terminated in 1887. S/N 356. The 18" (46cm) barrel has a raised top rib, tilting 2-position L-shaped backsight & good bore. Equipped with a chequered mottled red hard rubber forearm and grips. Forearm colours still bright with crisp chequering. Detachable select grade walnut shoulder stock with black hard rubber butt plate. Six shot cylinder. Action is top-break and ejecting. The detachable stock, LOP of 14 3/8" (365mm), is of dark walnut. Company name & address on the barrels with patent date markings of 1865, 1869, 1871, 1875 & 1877. Fading to original finish on metalwork and build-up of patina. Mechanically sound, good to good plus original condition. Extremely scarce.

The 23" (584mm) barrel with iron sights, hooded front and three blade rear; reasonably good bore. The stock of straight grained walnut, plain forearm and chequered pistol grip, slightly dinged in places with a repair to the toe and crack to fore-end tip. Fair to good condition.

G27 12ga Baikal S/S Shotgun. R 2950.00A barely used gun. A boxlock ejector with non-auto safety. The 66cm (26") barrel's bores are slightly marked and choked 1/2 on both barrels. The forearm of the American beavertail type, the butt with a relaxed pistol grip. Both are hand-cut chequered to 18LPI. LOPs are 15 1/2" from the ventilated recoil pad to the front trigger and 14 1/2 " to the rear. Good condition, action still very tight.

G28 12ga Brno O/U Shotgun R 4500.00The 70cm (27 1/2") tubes have good bores and are both choked Full. Ventilated 10mm top rib. The action with double locking lugs, extractors and double triggers. Safety catch a push/push integral with the front of the trigger guard. Sides of the action with heavy scrolling and game scenes. Forearm and butt of light coloured hardwood. Skipline chequered. LOP is 14 3/8" to front trigger, 13 1/2" to the rear. Good condition.

G29 12ga Browning Citori Shotgun R 12500.00S/N 27141xx. From Browning Arms Company, Morgan, Utah & Montreal P.Q. but made in Japan. Standard Browning Superposed with 28" barrels (710mm), choked 1/4 under barrel and 1/2 over barrel. Bores are pristine. Some roll-on scrollwork to the action, Pewter pistol grip cap with initials "W.H.W". Plain walnut stock and forearm with 20 LPI chequering to forearm and pistol grip. In as new condition, action still very tight.

Conditions of Sale The following Terms and Conditions as amended by any postal notice or verbal announcement during the sale, constitutes the entire terms and conditions under which the property listed in this catalogue, is offered for sale by Classic Arms and any consignor for the said property that we act for.

1). As used herein, the “bid price” shall mean the price at which a lot is knocked down by the auctioneer, to a purchaser and the term “purchase price” shall mean the aggregate of: a). The bid price, b). A PREMIUM PAYABLE BY THE PURCHASER OF 12,5% OF THE BID PRICE, + VAT at 14% thereon (i.e. a total premium of 14.25%) c). And where specifically stated by the auctioneer VAT at 14% of the bid price. It is recorded that the consignor has authorised Classic Arms to retain the premium payable on each lot as part of our remuneration and that the VAT payable on such premium is in addition to such premium. 2. On the fall of the Hammer the highest bidder will have been deemed to have purchased the lot being offered and to have: a). assumed full responsibility and liability for the ownership of that lot in accordance with the terms and conditions contained herein b). to undertake to settle the aggregate purchase price within a maximum of seven calendar days from the date of sale. In the case of all firearms it is specifically recorded that the purchaser is deemed to have assumed full liability for ownership and payment in accordance with the terms and conditions contained herein irrespective of the granting or not of a South African Police Services licence or permit for possession of the said lot. All lots requiring licences shall be retained by Classic Arms pending proof of issuance of said licences. Should a licence for any lot, for any reason whatsoever, be declined, then the purchaser may require Classic Arms or a registered arms and ammunition dealer of the purchasers choice to resell such lot on the purchasers behalf. Such sale shall be conducted against the prevailing terms and conditions of the chosen dealer at time of resale and, irrespective of the Auction purchase price, at the price determined in agreement with the auction purchaser and the dealer. It is specifically noted that Classic Arms may in no way be held liable for a shortfall if any, between the auction purchase price and the resale price. Under no circumstances shall any lot requiring SAPS licensing be released to any person or body not duly authorised to be in legal possession of said lot, and unless all monies due have been settled in full and in accordance with the terms and conditions contained herein. No lots shall be deemed to have been paid for until all monies due have been delivered in cash or in Bank Cleared funds. All purchases may be paid for in cash, by Master Card or VISA, or American Express or by cashiers or Bank Guaranteed Cheque. A further premium of 5% of the aggregate purchase price including VAT thereon will be levied for all Credit or Charge Card settlements. No cashier’s cheque will be deemed to constitute payment until the effects thereof have been cleared into the Classic Arms Account. If the foregoing or any other conditions contained herein are not complied with by the purchaser, in addition to any other remedies available to us and the consignor by law, including but without limitation to, the right to hold the purchaser liable for the purchase price, then we at our sole discretion may: a). cancel the sale, retaining as liquidation costs any amounts paid by the purchaser, b). resell the property.

3. All payments to be made within 7 days. Property sold at auction and not paid for in full or collected, within 4 (Four) elapsed Months from the date of the auction, shall be deemed to be abandoned UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTIFIED. The auctioneer reserves the right to dispose of the property in any manner he sees fit and recover reasonable administration and/or storage costs from the disposal of said property and/or the purchaser. No subsequent claim arising from such a disposal shall be entertained and the auctioneer may not be held liable for any losses incurred by either the consignor or purchaser, or any other party, in this regard either publicly or privately and in such event to hold the purchaser liable for all costs including our commission and expenses for both sales, all other charges due hereunder, our attorneys fees and incidental charges. All fees commissions, bid prices and duties not settled promptly by the purchaser in terms of this clause 2 shall bear interest at South African Bankers prime lending rate plus 3 percent from the seventh day following the sale until settlement is received in full.

In the event that a purchaser does not effect collection within four months of the sale date, of any

item purchased, Classic Arms reserves the right to charge a storage fee of ZAR 100-00 per calendar month or part thereof. Such fee being payable monthly in advance from the first day of the month within which the four month period shall expire. In the event that the purchaser fails in his obligation to Classic Arms to pay such fee, Classic Arms, may at its own discretion, resell such item to recover such fee. 4. We reserve the right to withdraw any property at any time prior to the actual sale of such property. Unless actually stated by the auctioneer, all lots shall be offered against their catalogued number and no lot shall be divided for sale

5. We reserve the right to reject any bid. The highest bid acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be deemed to be the final bid price. In the event of any dispute between bidders or, if in the sole opinion of the auctioneer he doubts the validity of a bid, the auctioneer shall have the sole right to determine the successful bid or to re-offer the property in dispute for sale. Our sale records shall be conclusive in any dispute during or after conclusion of the sale. 6. If for any reason beyond our control, including but not limited to, fire, theft, acts of God, or insurrection, we are prevented from delivering the property to the purchaser, then we will be liable only for the sum actually paid therefore by the purchaser and shall in no event include payment for consequential or incidental damages. Classic Arms accepts no liability for any losses of whatsoever nature caused by any legislative changes in regard to the possession, by individuals or bodies, of firearms or ammunition. 7. If a lot is offered subject to a reserve (this being the confidential minimum price required by the consignor) then Classic Arms reserves the right to open the bidding or to bid on the consignor’s behalf in order to protect such reserve. Classic Arms shall not bid on the consignor’s behalf above such reserve. IN NO EVENT MAY A CONSIGNOR BID ON ANY PROPERTY OFFERED FOR SALE BY SAID CONSIGNOR.

8. All lots are sold “Voetstoets”. ALL STATEMENTS CONTAINED IN THE CATALOG OR IN ANY SALE DOCUMENTATION AS TO THE AUTHENTICITY, VALIDITY, AUTHORSHIP, PERIOD CULTURE, SOURCE, PROVENANCE, RARITY, CONDITION, IMPORTANCE OR HISTORICAL VALUE, ARE STATEMENTS OF OPINION AND ARE NOT REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES. NO WARRANTY IS GIVEN AS TO ACCURACY OF RIFLES OR CLARITY/PERFORMANCE OF OPTICS. No employee of Classic Arms is authorised to make any written or verbal warranty or statement on behalf of Classic Arms or our consignors. 9. If we undertake packaging or handling of any lots on the purchaser’s behalf it is done so entirely at the purchasers risk. We are not liable for any acts or omissions of carriers or packers including those recommended by us. Such carriers or packers may carry there own insurance and any claims for loss or damage should be addressed directly to them. 10. These Conditions of Sale and the respective rights of the purchaser and Classic Arms, are governed by the laws of South Africa. By bidding at an auction in person, or by agent, order-bid or telephone or other means, the buyer or bidder agrees to be bound by these Conditions of Sale. Any dispute controversy or claim arising out of or relating to this Agreement, or the breach, termination or validity thereof, brought by or against Classic Arms (but not including claims brought against the consignor by the purchaser of the lots consigned hereunder) shall be resolved by the parties in 10. No waiver amendment or modification of the terms hereof (other than posted notices or oral announcements during the sale) shall bind us unless specifically stated in writing signed by us.

11. Absentee Bids. As a service to those bidders that are unable to attend the actual auction, we may at our sole discretion accept bids in advance of sale by telephone, or in writing on the bidding forms provided in the back of the sale catalogue. Please note that we cannot accept “buy” bids and all bids must clearly state the maximum (excluding buyers premium and any applicable taxes) bid that the bidder is willing to pay. In the event that identical absentee bids are received then the first bid received shall take preference. In the event that the maximum absentee bid is equalled by any bid from the auction floor, then the auction floor bid shall take preference. We accept no responsibility for not executing an absentee bid for any reason whatsoever. 12. Estimate prices. As a service to our clients, we furnish presale estimates for all lots.
