How tHe FenCe works:

Fences are needed to keep domestic animals in the paddock or to keep wild animals out of the cultivated fields. Also it is used to protect cattle from predators.An electric fence is a very cost efficient, animal friendly and safe way to control the movements of your animals. Electric fencing is be upto 50% of the cost of traditional fencing after installation. This guide helps you to build a good, safe electric fence. An electric fence energizer supplies a pulse of electric energy to the fence every second. This pulse has a high voltage but it is so short

that it is not dangerous for humans or animals. The shock from the fence feels so unpleasant that after a few attempts to touch the fence the animals stop touching it. The animals have to be trained in order to get familiar with the electric fence.

When the energizer is correctly installed there will be no current flowing from the fence terminal to the earth terminal. Just like a light bulb which is switched off. If you turn on the light, the switch makes the circuit. The electrical fence works exactly the same but here the animal is the switch who makes the circuit. The animal will feel an unpleasant current flowing through its body and he will move. The animal remembers this experience as being unpleasant and will stay away from the fence.

Hybrid AlkalineWe have developed hybrid alkaline batteries for people who the price is decisive. The lifespan of the hybrid alkaline batteries is not quite as long as that of the alkaline batteries, but they perform much better than the old-fashioned zinc/carbon (saline) batteries.

NB:All batteries have a sticker on the top that covers the air holes. Remove this sticker before use in order to start up the process (entry of oxygen; ensures the chemical reaction that releases a current). When you want to store the battery, affix a sticker over the air holes in order to stop this process.

EArtHiNg - HoW doEs it Work?

Good earthing is essential to the proper operation of your fencing. Electric fencing is a circuit system with a current running through it. The current that runs through the conductor, via the body of a human or an animal or through the vegetation to the ground, is returned via the earth peg(s) to the electric fencing device. Dry ground or stony ground is a poor conductor for the current. Therefore it is important that you always use the suggested number of earth pegs and that you measure that the earthing is sufficient. Without a good connection between the earth and the device, your electric fence will never work properly.

How do i know wHetHer my eartHing is in order?1. Create a short circuit in your fence, at least 100m away from your

earthing system.2. Measure the voltage on the earth peg with a voltmeter (art.

no.:303236) Place the earth pin of the voltmeter as far away as possible from the earth peg. if the measured value exceeds 0.3kV, your earthing is insufficient.

3. improve your earthing by adding earth pegs.4. repeat steps 2 and 3 until the voltage has dropped below 0.3kV.

CoNNECtioNs - HoW doEs it Work?

The Pulsara connectors ensure a good join between the rope, wire or tape. If conductors are poorly connected, the shock behind the connector can be too small or may have disappeared. This will make the electric fencing much less effective. It is important to use a rope joiner, tape connector or wire clamp for every connection to ensure the current continues to pass through. NB: Rust has an insulating effect, which will reduce the voltage on the fence. The metal connectors of Pulsara are treated to prevent rusting.
