Nothing is more constant than change.

For 2012 as well, we have again prepared a number of innovations.

MC 2.0 Can you make a good product even better? Yes, you can. The new MC 2.0 is the latest

technological upgrade of an already tested and proven product. The MC 2.0 comes

with a digital wireless transmission, selection option for heart rate or cadence,

display backlight, battery status display and data storage during battery replacement.

As before, the MC 2.0 has both cable and wireless versions.

The Series-A The new Series-A has surpassed all our expectations. For this reason bottlenecks

too came about at the start of deliveries. We hope you will understand with hindsight.

For 2012 we have done minor facelift on the new Series-A. The brackets for the cable

and wireless versions were technically standardized. The transmitting range was

slightly increased.

Series-X The Series-X remains unchanged in the product range. With just 0.1% warranty

return rate, the Series-X is qualitatively the best series VDO has ever built.

Very high reliability and smooth functioning are the result of our continuous

quality management.

Series-Z The new MC 2.0 replaces the Z1 in the product range. The Z2 with heart rate

measurement and Z3 with altitude and heart rate measurements remain in

the range, just as the PC link versions with the PC Sport analysis software.

As you see, there are constant changes at VDO.

With MC 2.0, either heart rate data or cadence data can also be displayed. In a selection menu it is defined whether heart rate, cadence or no other information should be displayed. All heart rate functions are located on the button HR / CAD. The heart rate / cadence functions can be accessed sequentially by pressing a button.

3 training zones can be selected in the MC 2.0: The FIT and FAT zones are automatically calculated from the set

personal data and from the personal maximum HR. The values for the OWN zone are similarly calculated, but can

be adjusted individually. The training zone can be selected directly via a short-cut button.

Battery indicator

The MC 2.0 provides information on the

display when the battery level drops below

a critical level. The user then has sufficient

time to replace the battery.

All data and settings are saved during battery

replacement.

Display with backlight

The MC 2.0 has a large illuminated display.

The backlight is switched on for 5 seconds

DW stands for “Digital Wireless” and “Double Wireless”

The MC 2.0 has a 2-channel digital wireless transmission.

It can receive either:

speed + heart rate or

speed + cadence

Note: Heart rate and cadence cannot be received simultaneously.

Each transmitter generates its own coding. Thus, “cross-talking”

is effectively prevented while riding in a group.

The pairing of the transmitter with the computer is carried out

automatically in MC 2.0.

Insert computer into the handlebar bracket and set off;

computer does the pairing on its own.

The MC 2.0 also has automatic bike recognition.

It recognizes when the computer is used on bike 1 or bike 2.

With a 75 cm range (30 inches) for the speed transmitter,

90 cm (35 inches) for the cadence transmitter and

90 cm (35 inches) for the heart rate transmitter all normal

mounting positions are covered.

Data storage during replacement of battery

When replacing batteries, all settings (wheel size) and

all data (total distance, trip time) are stored. A permanent

memory ensures that the data is not lost even if the

battery fails.

The altitude functions

The new MC 2.0 makes altitude measurements both UPHILL

and DOWNHILL.

All altitude functions are on the button “ALTI”. The

functions are accessed by pressing the button sequentially.

In the submenu:

SMART SET BOX SSB

You can set the computer with the SBB in no time. Language, time, wheel size and total distance can be set with a few button clicks. The computer can be set in a matter of seconds. Even the RESET can be done with the SSB. With the SSB you can make a total reset, or a reset of trip distance or riding time according to your choice. You can also use the SSB as a test station in the workshop.

Wheel size setting via tyre table

With the MC 2.0, the wheel size can optionally be

selected using a tyre table or, as before, set in

millimeters or inches. Thus the wheel size setting

is even more convenient.

Stopwatch, quick access

3-2-1 Start

Press a button and the stopwatch is in the display ... and it runs. The MC 2.0 has a direct access to the stopwatch, whereby you can access it from any function by pressing a button. The stopwatch is on the display immediately and runs or is stopped.

The display has become even bigger. With a new font design, the numbers and letters are significantly easier to read. Display technology is also new. The green back-ground increases the contrast and facilitates reading even in full sunlight.

Large buttons

for speed and additional data could thus be enlarged.

The text in the display is more readable. The time is

permanently shown on the display. In the wireless

models, the current cadence (optional) is permanently

displayed. Thus we have all the important information

at a glance.

Variable service intervals

Individual service intervals can be set

for two bikes.

After reaching the set mileage* the

display will prompt for the service

of the bike**.

This feature can be turned off.

Wheel size setting via tyre table

With the Series-X, the wheel size can

optionally be selected using a tyre

table or, as before, be set in millimeters

or inch. Thus the wheel size setting is

even more convenient.

Easy menu control

The EMC control system easily and intuitively allows the

operation while riding, and the setting of the computer for

the first time. All settings are accessible in a common menu.

With the Series-Z, we bring computer models with heart rate monitoring, altimeter, cadence and PC analysis. The Series-Z is for the ambitious cyclist who wants to control his performances and also document and analyze them with the PC-Link models. All models of the Series-Z have a 3-channel 2.4 GHz digital wireless technology for speed, heart rate and cadence. For wireless protocol, we rely on the proven ANT+* protocol. Thus, the Series-Z models are compatible with products of other providers, which also use the ANT+ protocol. Innovative and high class design make the new Series-Z models absolute eye-catchers. In addition to the measurement functions for bike, heart rate, cadence and altitude, the Series-Z models offer performance measurement in WATTS and determine the calories burnt. The extensive computer analysis program provides a detailed tours analysis and allows an individual training plan.

Hiking mode

All models can be switched from bicycle mode to walking mode. The Series-Z was indeed developed as a bike computer, but can also

be used for hiking, jogging, Nordic walking and other sports. The heart rate monitoring is completely available in the hiking mode. With the altitude measurement, the hiked uphill and downhill altitudes

are saved in the special hiking mode memory. So you know exactly what you've done on the bike or in Nordic walking.

For the hiking mode, the computer can be transformed into a sports watch with a close-fitting wrist strap.

In the models Z3 and Z3 PC-Link, the wattage can be calculated. For this, the cadence must be installed.

The calculation algorithm takes into account several adjustable influencing factors such as – Weight – Rolling resistance (via tyre type) – Aerodynamic drag (via sitting position)

Under the same conditions the watt display gives comparable watt values that can be used for an analysis of the training progress.

Planned quality

For a new model series, we already think of the quality at the development stage. Quality criteria are identified for each component and quality tests defined for each phase of production. We have also provided our computers with an automatic test routine. Display, wireless transmission, transmitter pairing and data download are automatically tested. This facilitates the quality control during and after production. The proper wireless transmission of the wireless transmitter is already tested in the production stage with a specially developed test software.

Quality is the result of production

One must produce quality To do that, quality controls are carried out continuously during the entire production process. PCBs are measured, displays are reviewed and receiver chips have to demonstrate that they can receive data. Only then are all the parts assembled.

Complete final inspection

At the end of production a full function check is carried out for every computer by our inhouse quality inspection team. Wireless transmission, button function, software check, data download, rain test and climatic chamber are only some of the stations in the final inspection.

Function test before shipment

The computers are prepared for shipping only after they pass this final inspection. Before packing, an equipment check takes place once again on an automatic test station.
