    Projects

    The two brothers continuously have worked with each other for more than twenty years. We collaborated as aproper team and we worked separately on personal projects, but each assisted when personal projects weredeveloped. Below is a list of projects which we solved as a team to some degree.

March 1996 - January 1997Senior systems C/C++ analyst, architect and programmer primarily responsible for the development of an OracleServer (7.3.2) "Dataport" for migrating CICS COBOL mainframe data processing to a RISC 6000 AIX 4.1.2(UNIX) platform. The Dataport (based on Logical Calculus and written in C++ for AIX 3.1 and Pro C 2.2.2),processes daily financial feeds from the company's international cash register operations for redistribution toother in-house UNIX systems. The systems is designed as a Interface CASE TOOL, providing (near) real time

    setup of interface requirement specifications (eliminating need to re-program and test interfaces). The AIDataport provides a flat-file (ASCII, EBCDIC) inter-process communications facility utilizing rule-basedtranslation (physical & logical) to the Oracle DBMS. The System lexically scans and processes a 14 mg flat file(approx. 2.5 million fields) with a CPU time under 1 second. (project expectations were around 10 minutes), andinterfaces are setup in minutes (not days).

    Other responsibilities involved evaluation, selection, negotiation of the Oracle Server; and setupguidelines/strategies for database structure, memory structures and processes, instance parameter files,tablespaces, transaction management and data recovery. Worked closely with C-C++/SQL programmer; &cross-training four in-house COBOL programmers in SQL92/Client Server programming techniques.

    disparate systems, using 8 gateway interfaces, and 26 data import paths. The gateway operates as ainformation concentrator, collecting, organizing & standardizing training/continuing education activities of NYSEand AMEX employees. The System generates departmental reports in lotus (DOS and W indows) and DB format(Paradox) for distribution to the senior SIAC management and departmental heads.

    Goldman Sachs Corporation, Investment Banking Division (IBD), September 1995Debt model analyst in GS in-house transition team, with interim responsibility for analyzing GS Whitehall StreetFund Debt & Valuation Models, in preparation for outsourcing to external off-site Rapid Applications-Development (R&D) team from M.I.T. . These closed-end real estate models (Oracle 7.1, UNIX) calculated cashflow & IRR as ownership percentages on asset, partnership and general fund levels. Responsible for intensive

    analysis of 50 K of code and preparing SQL DML API "Wrappers" (views).

    Enabling Systems, Inc., (3rd party developer) December 1994 - August 1995

    Developer of an office automation system, integrating 3rd party software packages and automating the dailytransaction processing of professional CPA practices. The multi-user DB server supports concurrent applicationthreads on a local area network (NT, PowerBuilder 4.0, C++, Sybase 10).

July - December 1994Senior systems analyst, architect and programmer responsible for developing a cash flow modeling system(Windows 3.1, PowerBuilder 3.0, C++/C DLLs, Oracle 7.0), supporting DBMS migration / data consolidationefforts involving real estate holdings. The system was broken down into the following:

    Cashflow Engine: Server generates financial forecasts based on pattern recognition algorithms.Forecast Models: Ten year Standard Prorata/Cumulative Balance by Real Estate property typeIntelligent Agent: Server hunts for data migration / consolation problems in property DBMS.

    The Fund for the City of New York, Inc. (The Ford Foundation) June 1994 - August 1994Programmer on platform migration/ porting project. Compiler upgrade project (Turbo DOS C to Visual C++)involved building a "Wrapper" around a self optimizing scheduling system (MFC, DDEML, ODBC).

    Paradox Engine) for real-time conversion of 3D Lotus & Quattro spreadsheets to financial models.

    PRIVATE BANK, CITIBANK, N.A., May 1992 - December 1993 (Technology Vendor)Responsible for a Decision Support System for the Private Bank, in the area of investment managementstrategies. The LAN based system (C, C++, ODBC SQL, Sybase 10) provided a unified analytical platform forstrategic analysis/ management of depositors with personal assets exceeding $10 million.

    The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, February 1990 - June 1991

    Senior programmer/ programmer analyst of the Structural Integrity Information Management System (SIIMS),providing quantitative analytic modeling of load bearing structural defects and safety related conditions, for thebi-state agency's interstate rail and road transportation structures and facilities. The system analyzed theGeorge Washington Bridge and 175 St. Terminal; and 42 St. Bus Station; and Lincoln and Holland Tunnels; and3 Outer Gothels Bridges; and Path Train tunnels, ramps and bridges.

    SIIMS provided an analytic platform supporting a standardized periodic infrastructure inspection process,analyzing qualitative and quantitative readings of defects, thermal displacements and stress conditions. Thisnetwork-based Expert System, (C & Paradox), was designed to track, correlate and predict the issuescomprising the Federal Audits and Major Work & Capital Programs.

    CONSUMER BANK, CHEMICAL BANK, June 1989 - July 1990Chairman's Project Initiative

    Architect and programmer of two DBMS. These systems provided senior management with time-series statisticalanalysis of back office problem-resolution efforts involving customer requested activities, associated with thechairman's "Committed to Service" project (Paradox).

    Branch Unified Management Processes

    R&D of a high capacity quantitative analytical modeling and data entry system, providing a time-series statisticalanalysis of customer traffic, service demand, and resource utilization patterns and response times, in 254 area

    consumer branches in Tri-State area.

    CITICORP, N.A., 1985 - 1991 (Authorized Technology Vendor (Documator))Speeded production of complex documents by designing and developing Documator, an "expert" document-building system. Documator builds documents with assembly-line efficiency, yet inexpensively, by operating off-the-shelf third-party vendor software and merging the functions of word processors, spreadsheets, and databasemanagers. The Documator System is easily modified to provide various businesses with:

    Established strict programming formats, procedures, and development reports to permit learning fromhistoric development statistics and created a proprietary objective c programming library to decreaseredundancy within the code. Result over three years was increased efficiency of scheduling, developing,testing, debugging, and modifying code; development time was reduced by nearly 50%.

    Designed 'expert' system switch with objective code design. Runtime self-configuration providesflexibility to configure easily to any document type. System builds the documents with assembly-lineefficiency, yet simply and inexpensively. Easily configures to any document type. Documator is currentlyunder license to Citibank, NY, where system has reduced production time of multiple-part bankingcontracts by 98% and clerical errors by 99%.

    Developed highly-structured code and documentation and a detailed development report. Product nowunder license by a major bank and reduced production time of multi-part banking contract by 98% andreduced clerical errors 99% over previous production methods.

    Trained and directed technical staff and production artists. Training covered use of the proprietary

    system, and database and knowledge base design.

    This services was provided to: North American Investment Bank, N.A. (Citibank NA); Specialized International

    Finance and Exotic International Products Divisions; Citibank International Investment Bank, S.A. (CIBSA); LatinAmerican Investment Bank, S.A. (LAIB); CitiTrust, Bahamas, Ltd.

    Senior programmer/ analyst responsible for developing five Intelligent Document Generation Systemssupporting CitiCorp's TWd derivative trading floor operations (currency swaps). These 'Expert Systems'streamlined the secondary distribution efforts (highly structured swaps, forwards & options) of Third-World debtand other international debt/ obligations & multinational loan syndication participation.

    Our Systems provided real-time analysis of customized, multi-lingual, multi-party swap environments, preparingand tracking documentation and related correspondence (pre & post trade, execution) for active deals to internalteam, participants and referenced or affected parties. The systems modeled the deal making environment

    preparing defect-free contracts, exhibits, schedules, consents and notices.

    End-to-end project management of two unrelated PC back-office accounting system projects for 1) privateinvestment banking, 2) and general manufacturing (Lotus, Dbase/Clipper and MultiMate).

    TELCOM & VIDEOTEXT INDUSTRIES, INC., 1978 - 1983 (Internet)Founder/Officer/Co-owner

    Designed and developed a videotex system -- an Internet forerunner--that provided an electronic "magazine" forresidential users and a point-of-sale advertising service. Ran field trials for 18 months in Milwaukee: systemdemos won Teleprompter a technical award for it's cable bid and won Telcom a value-added rep agreement withAT&T. Point-of-sale field trials in Gimbels-Midwest received multinational press as industry leader and queriesfrom as far as Paris and Sydney. Designed and developed financial pro-forma and strategic marketing plans,continually refining these documents for venture capitalists.

    Designed and developed preliminary specifications for proprietary virtual packet switch, providing user-orientedsolutions for networking, processing, and data throughput requirements for internet (videotex) system. Designedand developed cost-effective synthetic-video generator that dynamically constructs and formats information ondemand, incorporating high-resolution imaging/alpha-geometric graphics and presenting them as an "electroniccartoon magazine". Mapped and directed installation and operations of hardware and software componentsduring public trials of both applications.

    Consulted with major department store to analyze retail-internet user requirements; Consultingcontinued for three years and redirected on-going field trial activity. During this period imagingtechnology progressed from alpha mosaic through alpha-geometric and then on to full color images.

    Designed and developed financial pro-forma and strategic marketing plans; these plans were constantly

    modified over a five year period under the guidance of the worlds largest venture capitalist.

    Designed and developed preliminary specification for a proprietary system software (VANSYS),analyzing and developing user-oriented solutions for user networking, processing, and datarequirements for public and residential internet (videotex). Provided communications backbone bycombining interactive virtual-packet switching and store-and-forward message switching. Designedlayering to be compatible with international standards and protocols established by the InternationalStandards Organization.

    Designed and developed retail advertising service: a switch to generate streamed data and provide

    point-of-sale with synchronized audio. System operates passively and interactively through touch-screenresponse; it dynamically constructs and formats information on demand, incorporating high-resolutionimaging and alpha-geometric graphics and presenting them in cartoon fashion.

    Designed and developed artists workstation. This mouse controlled screen editor captures images withthousands of colors from an NTSC source, crops the image to a package size, translates the image tobest-fit within a dynamically constructed color map, and loads the image with synchronizationcoordinates. Animation routines are sequenced and initialized from a database at runtime and whenactivated generate a stream of data output as an RGB signal.

    Mapped and directed installation and operations of hardware and software components during publicfield trials. Ran point-of-sale field trial in major department store as holiday spectacular; received multi-national press as industry leader and received queries from as far as Paris and Sydney. Responsible forbudgeting and scheduling, and coordinating thirty specialists from five organizations and two countries.Hardware specialists adopted my installation-planning format after first installation slid together 80%

    ahead of schedule. Trained and supervised technical staff and production artists. Training covered use of the proprietary

    system and various third-party frame creation and graphics/image editors.

    Ported retail system (c) from MS-DOS to Unix. Managed six month project to analyze and identifyobstacles to perfect portability, to analyze throughput capacity of proprietary system running on an ATT7300 processor under UNIX and to analyze SQL capabilities.

    Installed and managed computer operations of time-sharing service ( before CompuServe); designed anddeveloped system to collect usage data toward evaluating user requirements for retail and residential internet(videotex) designed and developed software to analyze objectively statistical usage; designed and managedfield trials for residential services.
