EASTER WEEKDuring the week before Easter there are many religiouscelebrations but the most important is on Friday when people goto processions to remember the death of Jesus.Men wear purple robes and pointed hats and they carry bigimages of Jesus on their shoulders as an act of penance andforgiveness of sins.These processions are usually accompanied by the beat of adrum but what impresses most is the devotion and silence ofpeople.

EASTER SUNDAYThis is the most important day in the Catholic calendar because we celebrate Jesus'resurrection. It's a day full of joy and happiness, therefore groups of people sing anddance Easter songs in the streets of thevillages. These songs are called“Caramelles” and they are cheerful songswhich talk about spring and the joy forChrist's resurrection.

As a dessert on Easter Sunday lunch, a typical cakecalled “la mona” is eaten. At the top of the cakethere is a chocolate egg. The godparents give thisspecial cake to their godchildren and all the familygather together at the table.
