Cat Eye Frames

Popular among stars such as Marilyn Monroe and Buddy Holly in the 50’s. These became part of an identity for some.

I would say cat eye frames are based in the culmination stages more so in the mass acceptance stages. There were many prevalent in the mass merchandiser store which included the less extreme cat eye frame with softer and rounder edges. Less were seen at high retailers except Prada who adopted a combination of the 50’s and 60’s frame within their one style. Very few discount stores carried cat eye frames except Kmart who carried the traditional cat eye glasses. I think this style may be accepted as a classic just as the horn rimmed glasses have and the bug eye.
