From the Principals Desk

End Of Term As I am sure you are all fully aware that this week is the final week of school for Term 2. I would like to congratulate the students for their committed hard work and effort that they put into school every day. Thank you to the staff, both administration and teaching, of Castlereagh Public School who demonstrate passion for our school and are always looking for opportunities to enhance the learning of all students who attend. Finally I would like to acknowledge the fantastic support that we have from all parents, community members and school P&C. I wish all members of our team at Castlereagh Public School a very enjoyable, safe and happy end of Semester 1 break. School resumes for students on Tuesday 24th July 2018. SRC Team Colours Day This Friday 6th July our school SRC will be conducting a Team Colours Day. For a gold coin donation students will have the chance to wear their favourite team colours. Please note that all students must wear closed in shoes and warm outfits for the day. All money raised will be sent to the Fight Cancer Foundation. Small Schools Athletics Carnival The Small Schools Athletics Carnival will be held in Week 2 of Term 3. Notes and information for children who have been selected to participate and represent the Castlereagh Public School team have already been sent home. I would like to wish our team all the very best in advanced for what I am certain will be a fantastic community of schools event. Stage 3 Camp The time is quickly approaching for the Stage 3 students who will be attending camp at the Berry Sport and Recreation site. The dates of camp are Wednesday 5th – Friday 7th September 2018. If you still have money, permission notes or medical consent forms outstanding could you please make the arrangements and get it to the office as soon as possible. It is essential with the organisation side of things for the school to have all paperwork returned and ready prior to camp. Thank you!

All parents, friends and community members are welcome to attend and participate in celebrating Public Education. Further information will be forwarded home during Week 1 of Term 3. Please complete the online registration form to secure a meeting. If you are unable to attend or cannot organise a time that suits your family than please make contact with your child’s classroom teacher to book in an alternative time. P&C Healthy Breakfast Last Friday the school P&C ran a healthy breakfast here at school. Although the weather was very chilly and the thick cloud cover made for a very eerie morning we truly do appreciate the support that they so frequently offer to our school.

Australian Early Development Census Castlereagh Public School is participating in the Australian Early Development Census (AEDC) this year across Kindergarten. The AEDC is a national census of children that measures early childhood development of children in the first year of full-time school. Census data is used by early childhood educators and health services, local councils, community groups, schools and governments to help plan and allocate the right type of services, resources and support for communities. Results are reported as a group rather than for individual children. All children remain anonymous. Please let us know by Friday 6th July 2018 if you do not want your child to participate. Castlereagh Public School Staffing As I have previously communicated Mrs. Lennon retired from services as a permanent teacher of the Department of Education at the beginning of April 2018. We are currently in the process of filling this position within our school in line with the Department of Education’s employment policy and anticipate a decision by the commencement of Term 3. Our teaching staff currently is as follows; Kindergarten Mrs. McFadden (Permanent)

Mrs. McDonald (Casual) Year 1/2 Mrs. Rozzoli (Permanent) Year 2/3 Mrs. Sutton (Relieving Assistant Principal) Year 3/4 Mrs. Vanoostwaard (Temporary) Year 5/6 Mr. Jeff (Permanent)

Mrs. McDonald (Casual) Learning Support Mrs. Formosa (Permanent) Library Ms. Robson (Casual) Week 10 P&C Meeting Cancelled The scheduled P&C meeting for this week has been cancelled. Please be aware that the next meeting will be conducted at 7pm on Thursday 2nd August 2018. 2018 Enrolments Kindergarten enrolments and all other enrolments for 2018 are currently being taken. In order for us to prepare our classes and ensure that equitable class numbers are maintained it is essential that we have all the information needed leading into 2019. If you know of someone who is enrolling at Castlereagh Public School and has not yet done so, could you please pass on our school details? Additionally, if you have children in Kindergarten to Year 5 and are planning on moving at the end of the year, that information is important also. I wish you all a very happy and safe fortnight ahead. Kind Regards Mr. Tony Jeff Principal School Lunches School lunches are available to order online. Please go to www.myschoollunchbox.com.au and follow instructions on how to order.

Crunch and Sip Castlereagh Public School is a certified ‘Crunch and Sip’ school. All classes have a ‘Crunch and Sip’ break during the day where children are encouraged to eat fruit and sip water. A tally of the

fruit eaten is kept as it is one of the activities the children can complete to obtain their Healthy Lifestyle Challenge, Healthy Badge.

Waste Free Wednesdays Every Wednesday is a waste free day at CPS. This means whatever food and drink wrappings/scraps that the children have that day must be taken home with their lunches, a class tally is kept of the number of children having ‘nude foods’! These are foods that have no wrapping but come in a reusable container.

Thank you for your continued support for these two programs. Ice Blocks & Drinks Ice blocks will be sold Monday, Wednesday and Fridays at lunch time. They range from 60c to $2 in price. We will only be selling Water and Apple juice; the poppers will be sold at $1 each and the water at $2 each. They will also be sold on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays at lunchtime.

Tissues Please bring in a box of tissues to your class teacher, as we are running low in the classrooms with this cold weather. Thank you.
