The Rock of Cashel is one of Ireland’s premier tourist attractions with visitor numbers in excess of 270,000 annually. The Rock is a spectacular group of world famous Medieval buildings set on an outcrop of limestone in the Golden Vale including 12th Century round tower, 13th Century Gothic cathedral and 15th Century castle.

Cashel is a popular heritage town strategically located between the cities of Cork and Dublin and easily accessible from international airports at Dublin, Cork and Shannon.

The town is synonymous with the world renowned bloodstock industry. The surrounding area hosts a number of well known stud farms including Ballydoyle and Coolmore.

HistoryCashel Palace Hotel was built in 1730 by Archbishop Theophilus Bolton and was designed by Sir Edward Lovett Pearce who was also the architect of the Old Parliament House in Dublin, which is now Bank of Ireland, College Green. Following a decision by Archbishop Richard Lawrence to transfer the Diocesan headquarters from Cashel the property was then in use by the Dean of Cashel. In 1962 the property was opened as a luxury hotel by Lord Brockett, who at the time also owned Carton House in Co. Kildare.

The PropertyBEDROOMSThe hotel has 20 individually decorated bedrooms of character which are located in the main hotel and the Coach House. Many of the rooms offer stunning views of the Rock of Cashel and include Junior Suites, Double Deluxe and Mews rooms.

FOOD & BEVERAGEBishops Buttery Restaurant: With feature vaulted ceiling and stone flag floor this is a popular venue for locals and guest catering for up to 60 persons.

The Guinness Bar: Located at lower ground floor and fitted in traditional style with brick surround open fireplace.

Private Dining: Offered in The Mulberry Suite, The Drawing Room or The Palace Dining Suite.

WEDDINGS The Cashel Palace Hotel offers many options to cater for weddings, functions and corporate events in the above private dining rooms or in the self-contained Long Room with separate car park access.

GARDENS The hotel is complemented by landscaped walled gardens which include the Bishops Walk, linking the hotel to the Rock of Cashel. The gardens have a variety of treks and planting including two mulberry trees planted in 1702 to commemorate the coronation of Queen Anne. The original hop plants used in the brewing of Guinness were planted in these gardens. The remainder of the lands slope to the Rock of Cashel. The grounds of the hotel also include a single storey gate lodge and two storey former school house.

FISHINGThe property is offered with the benefit of fishing rights to 6 kilometres of the Rivers Suir and Aherlow.
