![Page 22: CASH BASED APPROACHES TO TRANSITIONAL SHELTER](https://reader036.vdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062421/56812b07550346895d8ee915/html5/thumbnails/22.jpg)
22
RESULTS (-)
Targets/expectations high & hard to manage
A deeper outreach strategy needed to ensure women’s full participation
“Competition” from other programs
![Page 23: CASH BASED APPROACHES TO TRANSITIONAL SHELTER](https://reader036.vdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062421/56812b07550346895d8ee915/html5/thumbnails/23.jpg)
23
NEXT STEPS
PMI capacity increased to build upon this work Continue to work with communities, building on
trust established through shelter provision PMI volunteer teams doing multi-sector mapping Further recovery, disaster preparedness and risk
reduction activities with communities
![Page 24: CASH BASED APPROACHES TO TRANSITIONAL SHELTER](https://reader036.vdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062421/56812b07550346895d8ee915/html5/thumbnails/24.jpg)
24
LESSONS LEARNED
Empowering communities to lead their own recovery does work but takes time & resources
Meaningful risk reduction at community level requires this, along with good local partnerships
Simplicity and good, clear communications key Cash-based approaches can build ownership,
give flexibility & support local business recovery Shelter an effective lead-in activity but should
not be done in isolation from other sectors
![Page 25: CASH BASED APPROACHES TO TRANSITIONAL SHELTER](https://reader036.vdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062421/56812b07550346895d8ee915/html5/thumbnails/25.jpg)

ACHIEVING
GOOD RECOVERY & RISK REDUCTION OUTCOMES IN SHELTER/HOUSING:
