The mayor was not ready for press but even bad publicity is publicity.
The leaders need confidence to make decisions since the decisions are bigand mean a lot to Kotka. Pirjo Sthle might have good points for this.
Key issues to be grasped: immigrants, entrepreneurship, grassroottackling.
In mayors opinion he needs only 5 guys to run the project (needs more). The majority of the Kotka people is soon elderly. Changes in bottom-upview; city needs people taking care i.e. young people. Offer them housingclose to elder homes and jobs as well generating money.

Other notable issues/ideas
Signs should be in English and Russian language as well especially intourist spots.
PIRTU-boat rides
On the summer, pier with cotton candy, sausage and waffle kiosks, slotmachines by RAY (who else). Minimum investments, one real house, kiosks movable. Tukkimki (BETTER THAN THE ONE IN SRKNNIEMI)
Connecting parks together with bicycle lanes (it is a long way to walkaround the island.
World of scents of all things that have passed Kotka (the pleasant ones) todemonstrate Kotkas history.
The future of the present pulp factory has definite effect how pleasant thetourists find the Kotka (maybe rather assembly) TODAY.
Marketing of Kotka to tourists is poor, maybe also renewing the concept ofMeripivt.
When to tackle cases other issues deeper (Solutions to traffic junctions,Phasing of development and implementation, Consideration ofinternationality)
Scuba-diving along easy routes
SMEs to harbor area spawning around the spa (nail salons, massage(onsummers maybe on beach))
More Russian speaking kindergartens, schools following the process. These will attract Russian business if there is enough bilingual staff to beemployed. First step might be increasing the teaching of the Russia inlower primary school as B-language even if the group sizes didnt matchminimum requirements.
Three most important issues or ideas from the day as agreedby group members at the end of the day:
1. SOCIAL COMMUNITY/ ECONOMICAL REALITY
2. CITIZENS INVOLVEMENT IN THE PROCESS (MONEY IS NOT THE ISSUE NORARCHITECTURE ETC.)
3. HOW TO STRENGHTEN MULTICULTURAL ASPECT, HOW TO MAKE IT HAPPEN
