JIM FEEN, CIO SOUTHCOAST HEALTH BACKGROUND Southcoast Health is a not-for-profit, community-based health system with multiple access points, offering an integrated continuum of health services throughout southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. They are comprised of four hospitals and a physician network of more than 450 providers, and more than 55 service locations. This includes more than 40 physician practices as well as urgent care centers, a Visiting Nurse Association, the Centers for Cancer Care, outpatient surgery centers, and numerous ancillary facilities. CHALLENGE Southcoast Health has been live on the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) system for approximately four years and recently replaced their voice recognition and dictation system with M*Modal. Southcoast was well into the work for an upgrade of their Epic EHR, and their training staff needed assistance to address provider efficiency concerns and MCC Wellness workflows, as well as their implementation of M*Modal VR, before go-live. With a long and successful partnership, Southcoast Health brought these challenges to Optimum Healthcare IT. SOLUTION As an industry leader in training and go-live services, Optimum Healthcare IT was engaged by Southcoast Health to assist them with these challenges. Optimum has developed a comprehensive program, building on Epic’s THRIVE After Go-Live Training Program that delivers benefits to clinicians through focused THRIVE training. Optimum was engaged on two concurrent initiatives. The first was to improve provider practice efficiency. The two primary objectives included coaching providers whose Provider Efficiency Profile (PEP) scores were four or less and to familiarize their Primary Care Providers with the SCHS Medicare Wellness visit workflow and documentation. The second initiative was M*Modal Training and Personalization. This included supplementing their training staff to complete training of their Providers on their recently installed M*Modal VR system and assist them with initial personalization.

CHALLENGESouthcoast Health has been live on the Epic Electronic Health Record

(EHR) system for approximately four years and recently replaced their

voice recognition and dictation system with M*Modal. Southcoast was

well into the work for an upgrade of their Epic EHR, and their training

staff needed assistance to address provider efficiency concerns and

MCC Wellness workflows, as well as their implementation of M*Modal

VR, before go-live. With a long and successful partnership, Southcoast

Health brought these challenges to Optimum Healthcare IT.

SOLUTIONAs an industry leader in training and go-live services, Optimum Healthcare IT

was engaged by Southcoast Health to assist them with these challenges.
