Case Study Smoke Damage Restoration for a SchoolLos Angeles, CA
Los Angeles, CA
Smoke Damage RestorationAlthough the devastating Woolsey Fire in Southern California did not reach Oaks
Christian School, ash deposits scattered inland by the Santa Ana winds affected the
500,000-square-foot, five-building campus.
The school was closed under a mandatory evacuation, and ATI was hired to ensure
that the campus was clean and safe for classes to resume after the winter holidays.
Approximately 130 to 140 remediation technicians worked twelve hours a day, seven
days a week, for three weeks to restore the entire school, inside and out, to perfect
working order. In addition, 15 professionals worked through the night for an additional
five weeks on the vast network of air ducts.
Pre- and post-work testing included random sampling of the structures for safe indoor
air quality. At the close of the project, an industrial hygienist ensured high air quality
and declared the buildings free of ash, allowing school to be back in session by the
targeted date.
