our brief

Following a rigorous procurement process, BIG was selected by the National Trust for Scotland to deliver the website for the new £21m Robert Burns Birthplace Museum.

The website was needed to act as a vital marketing tool and help people engage with the artefacts on display.

BIG took the approach that it was crucial for the museum’s unique selling points – the experience for people visiting – to be communicated loudly and clearly.

Working with The National Trust, a strategic plan for the website was established to encourage visits, generate commercial revenues and educate people about Burns.

BIG used a range of techniques including creating attractive gallery areas, what’s on guides, animated script and a design style that mirrored the real museum experience.
