Leading supplier of gear casing covers and many gear box components as machined parts.
Works as vendor for many years of KOEL, MAHINDRA TRACTOR DIV. etc.
Its total area is about 2500sq.m,out of which machine shop is built in about 2000sq.m approximately.
Unit is employed with conventional machines with one VMC and one over hanging crane.

“Material handling system is an activity that uses the right method to provide the right amount of the right material at the right place, at the right time, in the right sequence, in the right position and at the right cost”
It doesn’t add value to the product but add significant element of cost.
These cost are inevitable i.e. unavoidable Material handling equipment utilized in unit: pallets, Movable trolleys (for scrap
handling) Tractors etc.

Facility include the location of all machines, utilities, employee workstations, customer service areas, material storage areas, restrooms, lunchrooms, internal walls, offices, and computer rooms.
Facilities planning deals with the design of plants, structural design, layout design, handling system design etc.
Elements of Facility Layout◦ Equipment◦ Work stations◦ Material storage◦ Rest/break or eating area◦ Offices

Proper material handling equipment utilization. Line balancing. Proper material flow pattern Minimize material handling costs Utilize space and labor efficiently Safety consideration Reduce manufacturing cycle time or customer
service time Eliminate waste or redundant movement Facilitate the entry, exit, and placement of
material, products, or people

The only two hand pallets are used. One over hanging crane is used for heavy
components or for moving unit load. Most of the wok is manual and time
consuming. Hence unit load and obsolesce principle are applied.

More use of vertical space Working area should be specified and
marked by yellow strips Packing area should be separately
maintained, so as avoid damage to workpiece
Semi mechanized material handling equipments should be employed to maximize space utilization
Should safe and secure handling
