Hamad Medical Corporation is the main provider of healthcare in the state of Qatar. Situated in the capital

city of Doha, Hamad Medical City (HMC) is the largest on-going government project for data communications.

The project to install an extensive and substantial structured cabling system has being undertaken by Brand-Rex

partner Consolidated Gulf Co. (CGC). It is extensive and wide-ranging and will connect a Women’s Hospital,

a physical medical and rehab facility, an ambulatory building, and the Translational Research Institute building.

The scope of work was enormous to provide the entire structured cabling system for a modern, progressive, multi-function network in a brand new, state-of-the-art medical facility delivering high standards of medical care.

Using Brand-Rex products, CGC installed, tested and commissioned a range of network services for telephone, data, TV, CCTV and access control, video surveillance, building automation, and a �re alarm system. At the heart of this advanced network is a Brand-Rex 10GPlus Augmented Category 6 U/FTP solution and tight bu�ered premise distribution multimode and single-mode �bre, and single-mode steel tape armoured multi loose tube �bre optic cables.

Fibre connectivity will connect the Central Energy Plant (CEP) and each building, where a �bre backbone will be installed from the main distribution frame (MDF) to an independent distribution frame (IDF) on each �oor. In turn, each IDF will use Cat 6A U/FTP to connect over 20,000 access points as detailed in Table 1 below.

A wide variety of Brand-Rex Optical Cable types were deployed, including 4, 6, 12 and 24 core single-mode, 4 and 8 core multimode, and a 10GPlus Augmented Category 6 U/FTP cabling system. 42U Cabinets will be installed into which the 10GPlus cables will beterminated using the unique V12 Angled Patch panel, while �bre cables will terminate using preloaded �bre patch panel.

The expansion of Hamad Medical Corporation is in response to economic growth in Qatar and will provide providing citizens and residents with additional modern health care services. The site was originally the ASIAD village, created in 2002 for the 15th Asian games, it has now been redeveloped to create this impressive and modern medical facility with 1,600 employees, 1,000 beds, a 40 bed day care unit and a 300 bed nursing home and dialysis facility.
