 How does Nucor case illustrate the limitation of the simple organizational

structure?

The limitation of simple organizational structure is that they are good indeed for small organization but

as the size of organization increases or the organization starts growing, the scope of simple

organizational structure come to an end because it give birth to the information overload for the top

level management, thus risk the future growth of the organization. In the case of Nucor as the

organization had start prospering the new CEO added more layers in the organizational structure to

make management efficient and effective by dividing the work.

Do you think other organization should replicate Nucor’s structure? Why or

why not?

Replicating the organizational structure exactly would defiantly be big mistake because every

organization has different vision and mission and it also have its own objective and organizational

culture therefore replication would lead to a death of organizations future growth and even itself at all

whereas copying the strategy that they have adopted to cop up with the problems that they were facing

in the situation of growth.

Why do you think other organization have developed much more complex

structures then Nucor?

The nature of organizational structure depends many of the factors, one of them is the growth

opportunities and performance of 

business in the industry as

compared to the organizations in

the same industry NUCOR

Corporation does not seems to be

having the same progress level

therefore its structure was quite

simple and lean till 2006 but when

in 2006 the came across some of 

new business opportunities their

structure too start taking shape of 

the structure but still it’s gone take

a long time to have the same kind

Generally organizational structure tends to reflect the views of CEO as more

and more blood come into organization do you think the structure will begin

to look like that of other organizations?

Yes indeed although it is a general perception but as a matter of fact as the new blood comes into

organization the collective behavior of organization is going to be get changed and is going to evolved in

a manner that organizational structure must have to be change in order to keep uniformity in the

organizational structure and organizational behavior.
