Starting salary: $43,000.00 (0 years experience)

Add $1,000.00 for a MastersSigning bonus for math and science:

$6,000.00 (for traditionally certified teachers)Annual stipend  for math and science -

$2,500.00There is a stipend for teaching up to 5 classes

of ESL in EPISD.  So if you teach all 5 classes, you will receive an $1,100.00 stipend.

Beginning administrator’s salary is $65,000.00

admission into the Teacher Education Program. SCED 3311 –Curriculum Planning in the Secondary School this

should be taken before the Internship Semester. Requires 30 observation hours. *Music students see advisor.

RED 3342 –Reading and Study in the Content Area. Content Methods Course –Methods courses vary by discipline.

Please refer to your degree plan for your specific teaching methods course.

 The following courses require admission to Teacher Education: EDPC 3300 –Developmental Variations SCED 3317 –Multicultural Education (Taken during student

teaching semester in conjunction with SCED 4691) SCED 4691/ TED 4696/ 4697/ 4698/ 4699 –Student Teaching

◦ 5 full days per week- Monday thru Friday◦ 8-4 p.m.◦ 15 weeks◦ How will you support yourself/family for that semester? PLAN NOW!

Teacher Education Admission Requirements:

  English 1311, 1312 and Communication 1301/1302 with grades of “C” or better in each course.

Math 1319 or higher level math with a grade of “C” or better. (Math requirement varies by degree plan.)

The Texas Academic Skills Program (TASP) or Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) with passing scores on math (230), writing (220), and reading (230).

Completion of 60 semester hours with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.50 or better.
