Case 25623407 Part 6 Possible Solution Limitation Changing the permissions properties of the Target Folder Enabled Some of the selected files in Larger Sets to be Restored but some failed I created a new Target Folder on the G: Drive and checked the default permissions properties and found full control was limited to Barry which is my user account on the PC:
I changed the permissions of Everyone to Full Control over the Target Folder
I selected 5 files for restoration to the new Target Folder with full control for everyone
And successfully restored the 5 selected files
I set up to restore all the 9,181 “Office Documents” files to the Target Folder
Started the process at 5p.m. And by 5:45 received Message stating some “files had not been restored. Try later” The restore results showed files that had been restored
and those that failed.
It is not possible to select a file that failed for screen capture but the full file hierarchy can be seen by hovering over a failed file. In the above screen the failed files were html
The Target Folder contained a very deep directory with multiple branches
The Target Folder properties showed that 7,840 files of the selected 9,181 files had been restored
As instructed I tried again later starting at 10:30 pm and left the restore process running overnight into the same Target folder At 6 a.m. the message was again “Some files could not be restored at this time. Please try again later.” This time the status read “Restoring files 7,826 of 9,181 “
Included in the failed files were html, pdf and xlsx files:
The folder properties showed that it contained 7,840 files – presumably the same that had been restored at 5 p.m. And the Read only check box was blue
Everyone still had full control of the Target folder
although the G:\ drive default limited Everyone to Read & Execute while Barry and WMPNetworkSVC had Full Control
Attribute Changer App showed Folder properties of Read-only, Hidden, Archive, System, Compress and Index to be unchecked:
Attribute Changer showed file properties of Read-only, Hidden, Archive, System, Compress and Index within the folder as blued out:
i.e. no selection either to define or undefine the file properties of Read only, Hidden, Archive, System, Compress, Index. For More Info on the Attribute Changer 7 App see www.pelges.lu
