Arguably there is no better base in Trancoso than being based in Quadrado which perfectly juggles proximity to the beach with proximity to the action in the evening. It appears that the world’s glossy travel press-corps agree and the eulogies to the nearby UXUA Hotel continue to roll off the press. However, for those luck enough to find it, CASA DO BECO offers a highly stylish, better value and much more private alternative. As with all of the properties we offer, guests are well looked after with daily maid service (breakfast is made for you) and the welcome and ongoing assistance of your own local, English Speaking Concierge.

Tucked in a quiet location on the very edge of the Quadrado Historico, the large grassy square that lies at the centre of the village life in the evening, and ringed by tiny, candy-coloured houses that twinkle with candle-light restaurants and chic boutiques that becomes the focal point for all visitors when the sun sets.

The four bedroom house is set in an area of 1,000m2 and is surrounded by a luxuriant tropical garden affords gives guests total privacy even at the busier times of the year. All four bedrooms are en-suite and are air-conditioned. The bedrooms are spread between three separate constructions offering plenty of space to a group of up to 8 guests. All bedrooms open onto a deck that looks into the garden.

The house has been beautifully decorated in a rustic/chic style that reflects Trancoso’s laid-back vibe and all pieces of furniture and works of art have been carefully collected by the owner during his years of travelling to Bahia. All linens and bathroom towels are European and of high quality. The house has wireless wi-fi internet, a TV and DVD player, as well as i-pod doc. The kitchen is well stocked and will suit those who enjoy to cook (or we can provide an excellent local cook).

Direct access to the bars, restaurants and boutiques of the Quadrado. The nearest beach is les than a 10 minute walk away.

TRANCOSO

As well as offering some of the best beaches in the North East of Brazil, the village of Trancoso has a very pretty colonial heart, set on a bluff overlooking the sea and clustered around a large grassy main square known as the Quadrado. Rectangular and roughly the size of two football pitches laid end-to-end, the Quadrado is surrounded by colourful native houses presided over by a small church at the far end which has dazzling view to the beaches and sea below. In the evening everyone heads to the Quadrado to sip caipirinha and browse in the antique shops, boutiques (which include nearly all of the chicest Brazilian designers) and local stalls. The atmosphere is incredibly relaxed - the very antithesis of Europe’s glitziest resorts – and flip-flops, open shirts and kaftans are the order of the day. Yet many of the best know Brazilian film-makers, models, journalists and singers happily hang out in the bars and restaurants as if they were at home. This mixture of cash and DNA has started to attract a sophisticated international clientele who come for the authentic flavour of Brazil, enhanced by good, unpretentious restaurants, small hotels and stunning private houses.

CLIMATE AND WHEN TO GO

Best months are from November to May. The rainy season usually runs from May until September. The busiest months when there is most going on are December (from Christmas on), January and February. While the buzz is great fun, many people prefer to visit outside of this period.

Trancoso is the most fashionable destination in Brazil at New Year and this is reflected in the shortage and price of good accommodation at this time. Please book well in advance.

GETTING THERE

To reach Trancoso, fly into any major Brazilian city such as Sao Paulo, Rio De Janiero, or Salvador da Bahia, and connect to Porto Seguro, the closest airport to Trancoso. Multiple connections leave daily.Although less than 30km, the drive takes about an hour due to the scenic, two-lane roads and a short river ferry crossing.. Helicopter transfers can be arranged at reasonable rates for those in a hurry. Alternatively there is an excellent private landing strip at Terravista, just 10 minutes away from the village.

PROPERTY SPECIFIC CONDITIONS

Shorter rentals (of less than a week) may be accepted in the low season. Children are accepted at parents’ risk, but please bear in mind that the house was not built with young children in mind. A cot / high-chair can be provided if requested in advance and for extra charge.

Daily maid service is included and additional babysitters, cooks, barman, evening cover and night security may be provided for extra cost.

BOOKING CONDITIONS

1. CONFIRMATION POLICY (a)The invoice is valid one week from the date of issue. The reservation is validated with the receipt of the deposit by wire transfer. If payment for the full balance / deposit has not been received by the then the reservation cannot be guaranteed and will be automatically

released.(b)The balance must be paid no later than 30 days prior to arrival at the property.(c)All bank charges must be paid in full by the Client. (d) Payment conditions may differ for bookings at Christmas, New Year and other peak times.

2. CONDITIONS OF RENTAL(a) Check-in starts at14h00, but it can be anticipated to 11h00 depending on the house’s availability, with no extra charge. (b) Check-out is at 12h00 midday, but it can be extended up to 15h00, depending on the house’s availability, for no extra charge. For late check-out between 15h00-20h00 there is a charge of 50% of the daily rate. For checking out after 20h00, an extra daily rate will be charged.

by the operator or agent. Payments to Brazil made from overseas accounts will incur a BR$300 charge(c) Rates are subject to change without notice up until the time of receipt of the confirmation deposit(d) Bookings made within one month of departure may incur late booking charges and these will be advised at the time of booking.

4. RESERVATIONS AND CANCELLATIONAll bookings are governed by the booking conditions and cancellation policy of the Brazilian Beach House Co. Please refer to the conditions for full policy:

At New Year and at other peak times booking conditions may vary.

For all bookings, the deposit is non-refundable. However in some cases, up until the time when balance is due, it may be possible transfer the deposit paid (less any administrative costs) to a reservation at another time of the year, or to another party, to be used up to 180 days of the cancelled date of arrival. BBHco does not deposit reimbursement. If the guest does not use the credit within 180 days, the credit will be automatically cancelled.

5. CHANGES TO THE PROPERTYIn the unlikely event that it is necessary for the company to make an alteration to or cancel a booking after confirmation, we will inform you as soon as possible and, if requested, we will try to arrange a similar type and standard of accommodation in the same location as that originally requested. If the alternative offered is not accepted the company will refund all!monies paid in full and shall be under to further liability.

6. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES You must keep the holiday accommodation and all furniture, fittings, effects, facilities and equipment in the same state of repair and condition as at the commencement of the holiday, and leave the holiday accommodation in the same state of cleanliness and general order in which it was found. You are responsible for all damage or loss which occurs to the property or its contents during your occupation, and will be responsible to paying appropriate compensation to the Property Owner direct or to us as agent in the event of breakages or damage.

7. LIABILITY(a) Neither we (as agent for the property owner) nor the property owner shall be responsible for the death or personal injury to any person staying or visiting any property offered by BBHco, unless this results in the proven negligence of the owner, ourselves or our employees.

(b) Any personal property is left entirely at the guests' own risk and BBHC assumes no responsibility for their loss or any other security related incident whatsoever.!
