Executive Summary
The goals of Carroll County are to increase student engagement and achievement in and out of the classroom. We want students to use technology in a safe and ethical manner. We want students to work collaboratively with each other and others around the world. We want students to use a variety of media to solve real world problems. We want to provide students with more mobile devices to individualize instruction. We want teachers to implement these goals and believe in this vision. A newly developed visionary group will help teachers learn from each other by developing a blog that shows off student work, help teachers use video conferencing equipment to reach a global community, support teachers as they allow different groups create multimedia presentation, and help teachers develop a digital citizenship curriculum for their school. The visionary group will host a technology fair each year to model what students have learned through technology, and provide students with an audience. All teachers will have a website to communicate with parents.

Planning Process / Methodology
This year, the committee started the plan from scratch. Because so many people need to be involved, we started with a district meeting with around 12 people. A representative from each school and representatives from district offices attended a meeting to discuss the goals and objectives they would love to see on the district technology plan. The suggestions were taken back to each of the buildings and discussed with the School technology planning committees. Suggestions were brought back to a district meeting and the plan revised. Again, the plan was sent back to the school committees. Suggestions were made and sent to the entire group. As each section was completed, the schools approved them. Every school had input from teachers, some parents and some students.

Evaluation
Technology Vision and Goals Evaluation Narrative
The 3 goals combined are about developing student engagement, achievement, and collaboration during the school and after school hours. A quarterly digital newsletter, blog or wiki from each school will highlight student work and creativity in different classrooms. The district Visionary group will monitor the newsletter, blog or wiki and suggest new and different activities for teachers who do not have engaging student activities to share. The Visionary Group will compile a document of suggested activities with dates and the teachers they have reached out to help and send to the DTC. The DTC will work with the visionary team to develop a plan for any teachers who have not had engaging student activities to share. Champion Technology Teachers will compile a list of video conferences relating to STEM activities and global interaction with people around the global world. Champion Technology Teachers will research and distribute a list of conferences to help teachers that do not have ideas for global communication. Champion Technology Teachers will compile a document that will have the conferences they suggested to individual teachers and dates in which they helped teachers and send to the DTC. . The DTC will work with the visionary team to develop a plan for any teachers who have not had engaging student activities to share. A Technology fair will be held in the spring to highlight the relevant learning experiences of students. A program from each school will be sent to the DTC. Independent student learning will continue to occur beyond the school day and summer days in which school is not in session. Carroll County will provide a WI-Fi bus to visit locations, open school after hours and work with the community to give students an opportunity to say connected to complete learning task or to research individual interests. The principals will send a schedule of after school hours to the DTC to post on the district website..
Student Technology Literacy Skills Evaluation Narrative
The three goals to help develop student technology literacy skills combine to ensure students are competent users of technology that practice safe and ethical uses to solve real world problems. Skills will be tested in the 8
th and 12
th grade through Simple Assessment. Our target is that students will score 80%.
The Library Media Specialists and the Technology Teacher at Winn Will collect Keyboard certificates for each second grade student. Champion Technology Teachers will compile a list of teachers in their school who create multimedia presentations and document ways they encourage other teachers who may feel uncomfortable with presentation tools in order to increase the number of students creating projects. The visionary team will come together in January to develop a plan to improve participation among teachers. Lesson plans will document they ways teachers and technology teachers teach ethical uses of technology and students have the opportunity to solve real world problems. STLP and Robotics coaches will compete in regional and/or state competitions.
16
Integration of Technology into Curricula and Instruction Evaluation Narrative
The goal here is to keep students and teachers connected to enhance the learning environment. Through Moodle, blog, or website in the district and one to one laptops in the high school students will have the opportunity to have access to any time instruction and communication with their teachers. Evidence of this will be the development of teacher pages and the actual computers for the students. The Visionary group will meet in January 2012 to discuss and develop a plan, if needed, to enhance the learning environment.
Staff Training/Professional Development Evaluation Narrative
The one goal, to enhance learning for teachers and administrators, will be achieved through state and/or national conferences, webinars and teachers training teachers. Sign – in sheets for Webinars and teachers training teachers will be collected by Champion Technology Teachers, STC’s and Library Media Specialists and given to the DTC. A list of teachers attending training to state and national conferences will be given to DTC by Mr. Hogan. The Visionary group will meet in January 2012 to develop a plan to increase the learning for teachers and administrators.
