The typical carnival group leader generally dresses in a very large and eye catching costume. The leader is then followed by many others dressed in similar colors but simpler costumes. This costume displays the flag colors of Trinidad and Tobago. In the center of the costume is the coat of arms. Some costumes in carnival are so large that they must be placed on wheels in order for the person to move. Carnival In Trinidad Family and friends get together to walk down the streets for the passing of Baby Jesus. Carnival is celebrated by throwing water on each other, by dancing, and being with family and friends. The burning of the effigies at midnight was to say goodbye to the past and welcome the new year with a bang and new goals.
