Adaptations

Camels adapt to their environment in many ways. One of them is that they have a hump that stores energy for the camel for when resources are low. Another one is that their brownish color blends into the sand in the desert. They can also use their eyelashes, hairy ears, and nostrils for keeping out sand.

A Day in a Camel’s Life

One morning, I woke up to the sound of roaring winds of a sandstorm. When I looked out in the air, all I saw was brown, but my helpful, trusty eyelashes saved my eyes. I was forced to continue the trip with tons of cargo near my hump. My hump is useful, it stores energy for me when resources are low, for example it stores water for me because in the desert, my habitat, it is very hard to find an oasis. Luckily, I can survive ten months without water. We are nearing our destination, there all the goods my caravan brought can be sold. The weather now is clearing up and an oasis came to sight. Time to drink, Dromedary camels usually drink about 57 liters of water to restore our body fluids. When we get to our destination, all the camels will run and play as a herd. We are here the travelers unloaded the cargo suffering a couple of my spits and we now can play!
