Dear Parents and Carers, Anticipated enrolments

In the next few weeks, I will need to submit a revision of our anticipated enrolments for 2019. The accuracy of this information is vital as it affects our staffing entitlements and resource funding by the Department. At present, our projected enrolments for 2019 indicate that we will maintain our current class structure of 33 classes. However, if we lose a few more students we may reduce to 32 classes. It is very important that you inform the school if you are not expecting your children to return to Carlton PS in 2019. Many thanks for your support with this important information.

Selection Panel Training

We have a few parents that have formal Selection Panel Training but we need more parents trained in Selection Panel Training to assist us in positions that arise in 2019. Selection Panel Training is now available online. The online training takes approximately 1.5 hours and once completed a certificate can be printed off and brought in to the school.

LOWES

LOWES Rockdale have advised that they have Skorts in their range available for girls in our school. These Skorts are a

comfortable outfit for the girls as they wear like shorts but look like a skirt. Please stop into Lowes if you’d like to

purchase one.

P&C Meeting

We had an enjoyable and productive P&C meeting this Tuesday. We discussed the general themes which had come

out of the “Tell Them From Me” Survey and spoke about the school uniform with a representative from Lowes. We

also talked about some exciting projects that will be paid for by the P&C and locked in a few exciting community

events for 2019. Thanks to the small but enthusiastic group who attended! Hopefully, we will see you at the Thank

You Morning Tea on 5 December 2018 at 11.00 am. We appreciate everything our parent community does for us!

Next week I will highlight some of the parent responses to the “Tell Them From Me” Survey.

Night Of The Stars

Congratulations to all the parents and students who attended Night of the Stars! What a great event it was! I really enjoyed seeing the talents of our children showcased in such a wonderful way. Congratulations to Mrs OGrady, Miss Flowers and their team of helpers who made this night such a success.

Night Of The Stars!

A big congratulations to all the performers at the Night if the Stars. It was a showcase of the great talent we have at Carlton public school. The performers were well behaved and delighted the audience with their well rehearsed acts. We would like to extend a big thank you to Miss Morrison, Mrs Gibb and Mrs Mathews for their help on the night. Thank you to Irfan for his technical assistance and for embracing the spirit of the Night of the Stars. Finally, thank you to our amazing audience who supported the children. It was a very special night.

Greetings from the Indonesian room! The end of the year is fast approaching and what a great year 2018 has been

for the Indonesian program at the school. The students have continued to move forward with their language

development and most students are now using their language frequently to interact with each other both inside and

outside of the classroom. As well as the language we have also been doing our Term 4 cultural unit of work

“Celebrations”. The students have enjoyed learning about a variety of different celebrations with one of the most

popular being “NYEPI” (The Day of Silence). On this day the Balinese stay at home and refrain from speaking,

watching TV and listening to music. The students were very interested in “NYEPI” and had lot of questions and

comments.

Many thanks for the support given to the Indonesian program throughout the Year. It is much appreciated. Wishing

everyone a wonderful holiday and look forward to seeing everyone in 2019.
