Checklist Item(s): All Description Notes
1. All gear as noted in the Cargo Gear Register was examined as follows and foundsatisfactory:
a. CRANES: Visually inspected the crane structure for deformation, excessivewear, corrosion, and damage or fractures. Boom was lowered for examination.Crane hooks were visually examined for deformation, excessive wear or fracturesand non-destructive tested carried out (for offshore cranes only). A visual examand operational test was carried out of the crane machinery including primemovers, clutches, brakes, hoisting, slewing and luffing machinery. The wire ropeincluding end attachment was visually examined for excessive wear, corrosion, flattening, kinks, strand separation, core failure or other defects. The slewing ringassembly was examined for slack bolts, damaged bearings and deformation orfractured weldments. Function tests were conducted for the main and auxiliaryload hoisting and lowering, boom raising and lowering, slewing (swinging), safetyprotective (fail-safe) and limiting devices, and load and boom angle or radiusindicators.
b. BOOMS: All structural parts, including winches, booms, stayed masts, pins andconnections, wire ropes, chains, rings, hooks, links, swivels, and blocks werevisually examined.
c. Replacement wire rope was supplied with manufacturer's certificate conformingto the construction type, size, and minimum breaking strength specified in theload diagram design data.
2. Endorsed Cargo Gear Register and Issued CHG-7 Certificate as noted incertificate section of AB Report B.
CARGO GEAR RETESTING/RENEWAL SURVEY [Requires an annual inspection becarried out. Should all gear not be tested, survey not to be considered complete. Geartested/remaining to be tested to be noted on form AB Report B.]
1. Cargo gear was load tested and noted in parts section of AB Report B.
2. Post test examination of all gear carried out as follows and found satisfactory.
a. CRANES: Examined each crane, together with all critical accessories, including foundation, sheaves and rope guides, wire ropes including endconnections, hoist machinery, brakes and clutches, hooks, slewing ring assemblyand bolting arrangements for slack bolts, damaged bearings, and deformed orfractured weldments. Additionally, a rocking test, grease sample and arepresentative sample of the slewing ring assembly bolts, based on the age of thecrane, is to be removed and examined by a suitable nondestructive testingmethod.
b. BOOMS: Examined all cargo gear, with the whole of the gear accessorythereto, including all chains, rings, hooks, links, shackles, swivels, pulley blocksor other loose gear for damage or permanent deformation.
3. Calibration of test equipment used in the process was verified as noted below:
a. Review of Equipment Calibration Record(s).
