Human Resources Specialist

• Job Description: Diagnose or evaluate mental and emotional disorders of individuals through observation, interview, and psychological tests, and formulate and administer programs of treatment.

• Day in a Life:– Interact with patients/clients to help them gain insight, define goals,

and plan action to achieve personal, social, and educational development and adjustment.

– Identify psychological, emotional, or behavioral issues and diagnose disorders.

– Counsel individuals or groups regarding problems, including stress, substance abuse and family situations to better the person’s situation.

Clinical Psychologist

• Accountant: I find that this career could be a match for me because I’m a very organized and methodical person. I like the idea of keeping things organized for others and am very good at math. The work styles and values of this career I have and would like to build upon as well. I like the stability of this career but feel that I would miss the idea of interacting with others on a daily basis.

• Speech-Language Pathologist: I find this career as a fit for me because it involves me helping people to better their lives. I find that the work values of this career match mine and the work activities important as well. I know what that I would need to learn more things and be patient in this career but I have the belief that I could do it. I’ve heard of this career before and now that I know more about I feel that it is more of a match.

• Occupational Therapist: This career is a match for me because it encompasses so many things in one career. It involves a little medical in helping to rehabilitate people to do daily functions, but involves some psychology in it as well and education because you're teaching people these abilities. I find the knowledge needed for the job and the work activities both interesting and believe that I possess them or the ability to preform them.

Reactions

• Budget Analyst: This career has items that are a good match for me that I’ve never thought about before. Some of these items include the work styles, knowledge and activities. I have some of these skills and would actually have an interest in improving on them as well. I wouldn’t say that this career is my favorite or has a lot of potential, but it is interesting for me all the same.

• Human Resources Specialist: A career in human resources may be a match for me for a multiple of reasons. It’s a career that involves organization but you also need to work closely with people as well. I also like the idea of working in a business in a way that helps keep the company running with people and organized with information on these people. I know that is a stigma with this career but I feel that I could overcome it if I prove myself.

• Clinical Psychologist: I find that I like this career because I have a big interest in the field of psychology. I also really would love a career that will enable to me to help others. I feel I have to skills to listen, give advice, and have empathy for others; plus I would like to improve upon these skills and knowledge. I also have a passion to learn more about it. I also feel that I’d be prepared for the long education of this jobs and the others listed above.
