Career Hotspot … Chiropractor Chiropractors work with the relationship between the structure and the function of the body to improve health without the use of drugs or surgery. They can take patients history, conduct physical exams, and interpret imaging studies. They can adjust and manipulate joints and soft tissues. Personal Requirements: enjoy dealing with people reasonable level of physical fitness able to think and work independently good interpersonal skills enjoy health sciences Education and Training: Usually you must study chiropractic science at University which involves a three year Bachelor degree, followed by a Master’s degree in Chiropractic studies. To get into these courses you must have a HSC pass with prerequisite subjects in Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry. Entry can be highly competitive and applicants may have to have an interview. Contact the University for more information. Employment Opportunities: Chiropractors usually work in their own practices or in clinics with other health care professionals. They could also act as allied health consultants in occupational health and safety, sport, rehabilitation, health insurance assessment and medico-legal advising.
