Do you like drawing, play-ing video games, making movies or posters? Don’t let anyone discourage you from pursuing a career in the arts. You can get a great job doing creative work with a two year career-focused degree in Digital Media Arts from Glendale Community College. The Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Digital Media Arts program

was created by listening and responding to the needs of local industry experts. We have an active Advisory Board that helps guide the program to insure we are teaching best practices used by the experts. The Digital Media Arts program excels in quality teaching, equip-ment and facilities.

The program is broad enough to allow students take courses in graphic design, animation, digital photography, and human

computer interaction with responsive web design and object oriented program-ming concepts. Digital Media Arts graduates are qualified to apply for posi-tions in graphic design, animation, web design, and video production. Gradu-ates are working at design businesses, in-house design departments or have free-lance businesses.

We are aligned with the local AIGA design organiza-tion so students gain knowl-

edge from visiting business-es that hire digital media artists. We also partner with universities where students often transfer to complete a bachelor’s degree.

If your dream is to go into the arts, don’t let anyone stop you! Follow your pas-sion. If you are a prospec-tive student or interested in becoming a business part-ner, find more information at http://dmarts.gccaz.edu or email [email protected].

There’s no magic formula to a satisfying career in the golf industry—whether it’s teaching, club management, tournament administration or golf club repair.

But the PGA Professionals at Golf Academy of America in Phoenix got together with a dozen of golf’s recognized leaders—members of the school’s National Advisory Board—to identify five key “secrets” that lead to success

in the golf industry. Here are the top three:Secret #1: Get the Expertise

It’s important to have a working knowledge of golf’s profit centers and how they relate to each other.

Golf Academy of America provides a comprehensive associate’s degree cur-riculum of golf instruction, operations and business management. Your golf

education includes range practice, open play, class-room sessions and plenty of time on the latest golf train-ing technology. Secret #2: Build Your Network

The golf business is about networking and relation-ship-building.

At Golf Academy of Amer-ica, your own professional golf network starts forming day one. Your PGA Profes-sional instructors provide a window to a national net-work of employers, alumni and other golf insiders.Secret #3: Develop Professionalism

In golf, acting and being professional has its own set of standards rooted in the game’s traditions.

Through weekly open and tournament play, business classes and mentorship of your instructors, you will start developing the founda-tions of professionalism that

are vital to your success in the golf industry.

For more “secrets,” down-load the free book, “Golf Career 101: Five Secrets of Golf Career Success” at www.golfacademy.edu/101. For more information about Golf Academy of America, call 800-342-7342.

The Phoenix real estate market offers a unique opportunity to people wanting to start or change careers.

“Our real estate market is driven by the fact that Phoenix is a desirable place to live and is a relatively affordable place to live,” says Nate Hoelzen, President of Arizona Academy of Real Estate. “Often times we will see a huge influx of potential buyers after other areas of the country experience extreme winters and are looking for a change of climate,” adds Hoelzen.

Arizona Academy of Real Estate certifies thousands of stu-dents each year to get their Arizona real estate license and have seen an increased demand for new agents in a rapidly growing real estate market. “We teach our students the ins and outs of the Phoenix real estate industry. Our students attend so they can start a new career or we even have stu-dents who just wish to become more educated home buyers and sellers.” says Hoelzen

Arizona Academy of Real Estate offers the 90-hour real estate licensing program required by the State of Arizona to be a licensed agent. Their program is unique in that they have designed the program to fit into anyone’s busy life. The program consists of 18 sessions that can be taken in any order and you have up to 6 months to complete the program. This allows anyone to create their own schedule and to get going on their new career as fast as they choose.

Contact Arizona Academy of Real Estate at 623-505-5380 or enroll online at www.AZRealEstateLicense.com. AARE’s Peoria campus is located at 8476 W. Thunderbird Rd. #202 – Peoria, AZ 85381.

Alumni, teachers and com-munity leaders gathered to celebrate the new partner-ship of Arizona State Uni-versity and the Thunderbird School of Global Manage-ment on January 29, 2015 at a reception on the Glendale, Arizona, campus of Thun-derbird.

The ceremony served as an official starting point of the new alliance between ASU and Thunderbird that was first announced in Decem-ber 2014. Through this new partnership, ASU and Thun-derbird students will benefit from the combined strength of an international business-

education powerhouse with the resources of an innova-tive public research univer-sity.

ASU President Michael M. Crow and Allen J. Mor-rison, chief executive offi-cer and director general of the Thunderbird School of Global Management, spoke

about how each school would build of each other’s strengths.

“Thunderbird’s partner-ship with ASU comes at just the right time in our growth and in our history,” said Morrison. “In addition to benefiting from ASU’s knowledge network, we

move forward at Thunder-bird unburdened by debt and with a license to grow, to spread our wings, to pros-per.”

“What you can expect from us is to get at this right away, to stabilize those things that need to be stabilized imme-diately and, upon stabiliza-

tion, to begin strategic posi-tioning of this institution in its partnership with ASU, and strategic positioning of ASU in its partnership with Thunderbird,” said Crow.

At the ripe old age of 16, David Moran is already mak-ing up for lost time. Going into what should have been his junior year of high school, David found himself four credits short. David admits, “It was hard for me to stay focused for an entire semester. I got bored, lost interest and then just started socializing in class.” David experienced his “wake-up” moment when “I saw a pattern that needed to be fixed if I wanted my diploma.” At the recommendation of his coun-selor, David enrolled in Deer Valley Academy’s summer session, which runs each year through the month of July. David had great success in two science classes, passing both and earning a full credit. “It was easier to focus in class, and felt like a more efficient way to learn,” states David. Although David missed out on being with his friends while attending summer school, he believes too much knowledge is lost during such long breaks. “I earned a credit and still had all of June and part of August to hang out with my friends.” When he learned Deer Valley Academy offered a full-time option for students during the regular school year, David and his parents made the decision to switch schools. “I see a huge improvement in him (since the switch)”, said mother, Mrs. Amerman. David agrees and credits the DVA teachers for their dedication and caring. “(They) make me feel comfortable asking for help.” He also likes the instruc-tional format with a later start time, working on two classes at a time, Fridays off and several short breaks during the year. David’s plans for the future include graduating from Deer Valley Academy, and becoming a writer. Students who need to recover credits or may be searching for a dif-ferent educational approach should see our ad in this issue, visit our website at www.DeerValleyAcademy.org, or call 602.467.6874. Summer Class Schedule: July 6-July 30, Mon-Fri, 10am- 1:30 and/or 2:00-5:30pm. Registration for July classes begins in May. AdvancED Accredited.

Statistics show the aver-age person will change their career several times in their lifetime. Many of the jobs our parents did are not even around anymore. Even if you plan to stay in your profession it will take additional education and certifications for you to keep up with advancing technologies.

Additionally many of us went into careers because we thought they were a safe choice, parental pressure, or you thought you would like it and find you now either hate it or are board.

Don’t lose your past train-ing and work experience when changing careers. Investigation careers com-plement any prior educa-tion and work experience you have had. Your past

experience combined with investigation and security education often land you specialized niche jobs that pay top $. Unlike most professions, your past edu-cation and experience are always an asset.

Of course there is always the excitement, glamour and intrigue that come with aspects of this as a career choice. In our global econ-omy this career can carry you to the corners of the world, solving challenging problems for governments, companies, and individuals.

Break this cycle and train to enter a profession you can stay with well past retirement.

Investigations & Secu-rity industry jobs are in the top ten careers for the next decade and beyond. They are both considered reces-sion proof jobs as there is more work in tough times, as well as strong growth in a good economy.

I just wanted to say that this school is amazing! Not only do they teach what you need to know about dental assisting, but they help find the right type of dentistry field that is best for you. The class size is small, which is so perfect, you get that one-on-one attention with the instructor. You actually build a great professional relationship with them and a great bond with your class-mates.

This was the best decision I made; the results I got from this school were just great. I worked in the orthodontic field for about six years, but I never pursued an education in the field. All the experi-ence I had wasn’t really pay-ing off, just because I didn’t have the certificate saying that I went to school and got taught the material. To my surprise, after attending this school, I actually learned a lot. I just knew the basics, and they gave more knowl-edge about the field that I love. The school’s curricu-lum consisted of half hands-on and half book work. They also gave you the chance to request more time on the side to help you understand what they were teaching you.

Thanks to the amazing instructor, Mrs. Lisa, and Brittany for all the help you gave me. I got an amazing location to do my internship in the orthodontics field. I’m glad I made the choice to come here. Time went by too quickly, but I know that I received all the right material to help me with my career. I will never forget, nor regret, the experience I

got here at Arizona School of Dental Assisting.

Vanessa Gibson, ASDA student

I have now been attending Arizona School of Dental Assisting for five weeks and I just love everything about this school. It’s hands on and the instructors are great. I really am in disbelief at how much I have learned in such a short amount of time. Lisa and Brittany are great. Not only are they awesome women, but they are such good teachers. Anything you have questions on, they have an answer and they make sure you know and under-stand every single thing we do in class.

I have never been more excited to start a new career and it is because of this school that I feel like I will finally have my dream job. I cannot thank Lisa enough for what she has brought into my life. If you are hav-ing second thoughts about this school, or just thinking, hmmm, should I do this, stop thinking it and just do it. You will not regret it and you will not only be given the tools for a great career, but you will feel accom-plished and smart. Not to mention, you can make great friends along the way.

Thank you, Lisa, Brittany and the Arizona School of Dental Assisting. I love you all; you have changed my life.

After just two sessions, you can see the excite-
