CAREER DAY CELEBRATION

Explosion To Whom It May Concern:

Hello, hopefully you and your family had a wonderful blessed summer. As you already know last year’s “Career Day” was an awesome explosion thanks to you and your support! This year for “Career Day” I am going to attempt to have “Career Day” earlier this year. Therefore, I am aiming for this event to take place in November; which is known to be the month for celebrating careers in “Character Education”. Making a decision on a career and the related decision of choosing a major in college will be one of the most important decisions children will make in their lives. This “Career Day” will be held on Friday November 4th. The “Career Day” will begin promptly at 9:00a.m- 12 noon. I am looking forward for approximately thirty career presenters. If you are willing to spread the word about out how exciting your career is and inspire students to choose “Your Career”. Please join Morningside Elementary on their special “Career Day”!

Thanking You In Advance;

Ms. Davis

Guidance Counselor (Chair)

Mrs. Renea Ali (Co-chair)

Check for understanding on apps & programs required to complete the project…

Do you know how to use PowerPoint? Do you know how to use Jing? Do you know how to use Skitch? Do you know how to use a QR code? Do you know how to make a QR code?

See Mrs. Ward before Wednesday, Nov.30th for tutorial sessions on these apps and programs!

Make your choice… Look at each of the slides. Decide as a group which occupation you would like to

investigate. Sign your agreement to work together on your chosen career

and take a photo of it with Mrs. Ward’s iPad. Sign out your 2 iPads and go to assigned desktop computer. Scan one of the QR codes on the slide of your chosen career

with an iPad and begin research. Use Jing or Skitch app to capture screens and highlight

pertinent information with highlighting tool, make notes with text feature, and save capture

With Jing make sure that you remember where you saved it and what you called it! Skitch places all files in the camera roll.

Using the Jing or Skitch app…

This is how you will take notes.

When finding screens that have the information you need to complete your slides, capture or snap the screen, make notes on it and save.

Later, when you are creating your PowerPoint presentation you will be able to access those saved screens for the info that you need.

Citing your sources

It is against the law to copy someone else’s work and claim it as your own.

The person who first creates it has the “copyright” of that piece of work.

It is very important to give credit where credit is due so that is why we “cite” our sources.

When you capture a screen because you are using information from it you are copying another’s work so you must list the URL (Internet address at the top of your browser screen) for that screen.

My Resources (Citation Slide)

State the name of the article, when you copied it and list the URL. Repeat process for every website you get information from.
