Schedule: Varies, please call for information. Classes available in Corvallis, Albany, Lebanon, and Sweet Home.

Time Requirements: 4-16+ hours per week depending on student’s registration.

Program Description: Morning “Fast Track” classes available by individual subject area: math (basic and algebra), science, language arts, and social studies. Evening classes cover all subjects of the GED test in one class with a combination of class lessons, small group work, and independent study. Student must have the ability and willingness to abide by the departmental attendance policy requiring 90% attendance.

Cost for courses: Non-refundable fee of $33 per term

Student Supports: Transition support: one-on-one coaching to help students transition into college (researching majors, filing for financial aid and scholarships, creating a plan). Tutoring may be available for enrolled students by request. Upper-level coursework in areas such as reading, writing, communication, and online learning platforms, college and career readiness, and more.

Program Eligibility & Requirements: A 2-Session Orientation is required before enrolling in GED & Adult General Education Classes. Orientation consists of assessments in reading, math and writing to determine the areas in which each student needs to focus; information about the GED Test; general information about the College (services, resources, and programs it offers); class policies; and provides plenty of time for questions and answers. Once you complete the two-session orientation, you may start class the following week. Students who are 16/17 years old or young can enroll in the GED Program following completion of a GED Authorization packet. Please use the contact above for instructions on completing the required forms.

Schedule: Day and evening classes are available, both in Newport and Lincoln City.

Costs for Courses: $20 registration fee per term

Student Supports: Upon entering any Basic Skills Class, students are given assessments to determine the skills and subject areas in which they need to concentrate. Students can then set goals and focus attention on areas of their individual needs. There is a strong commitment to finding the best way for each individual to learn most effectively. Those who have been out of school for some time will find a relaxed, friendly, and encouraging environment in which to start studying again.

HOMESCHOOL PROGRAM

LBL Process for Home School Students Pursuing GED

Schedule: Contact LBCC GED Program

Program Description: The General Education Development Testing Service (GEDTS) enables approved states to provide access to the GED Option for selected secondary students, 16 and 17 years of age, who are enrolled in school. This authorization is from the American Council on Education. Local Education Service Districts will serve as GED Option providers for home school students. A homeschool student in Linn, Benton or Lincoln County, between the ages of 16 and 17 wishing to pursue GED must, along with their parent/guardian, complete and return to the LBL Home School Program office a Parent Assurance form. Once we receive this form, LBL will compile the GED Authorization Packet for that student. Prior to any classes and/or testing, the student must take the GED Authorization Packet to the GED preparation/testing site. For information about GED classes and testing please contact your local community college. A student remains registered with LBL as a homeschool student until our office receives a copy of the student’s GED certificate or until the student is 18 years old.

Cost for Courses: See LBCC. No fees at LBL. Parents/guardians are responsible for all costs associated with GED testing and preparation.

HOMESCHOOL PROGRAM

LBL Process for Home School Students Pursuing GED

GED Option Procedures for LBL Home School Students The procedure below explains the GED requirements for home-schooled students. Please contact LBL at least one week before your student plans to attend GED classes or take the GED tests.

● Step two: a parent/guardian notifies LBL that their student wishes to participate in GED preparation and testing by submitting a GED Options Program Parent Assurance Form (download below): https://bit.ly/2CvfJB8

Both parent and student must complete this form together. The original form then needs to be returned to our office by using the submit button at the bottom (see note below) or by emailing, faxing or mailing a PDF of the form to our office.

● Upon receiving a completed Parent Assurance Form, LBL will compile the GED Authorization Packet for that student.

● Prior to any classes and/or testing, the student must take the GED Authorization Packet to the GED preparation/testing site.

Please note: Parents/guardians are responsible for all costs associated with GED testing and preparation. When the student has completed the requirements to achieve a General Educational Development (GED), please submit a copy of the certificate to our office. A student remains registered with LBL as a home school student until our office receives a copy the student’s GED certificate or until the student is 18 years old.

ALBANY OPTIONS SCHOOL

Program Eligibility: High school students at least 16 years of age and enrolled in school in the Greater Albany Public Schools District, valid government-issued picture ID, referred by attending school (South Albany or West Albany High Schools only), passing placement scores.

Enrollment Dates: Rolling / at any point during the school year

Schedule: Daily during the school week from 8:15 am to 11:00 am. Testing schedule may vary.

Time requirements: Regular attendance during program times until completed

Program Description: The AOS GED program is primarily online, but also incorporates small group direct instruction and one-on-one instruction based on need. All testing takes place at AOS, which is a certified Pearson testing facility.

Cost for courses: None

Student Supports: Smaller learning environment, individualized assistance, IEP and 504 accommodations, self-paced test preparation, post-secondary career and educational exploration and planning opportunities and assistance (including, but not limited to, field trips, guest speakers, and assistance with FAFSA, Oregon Promise, and college and job applications). Spanish translation services available on site.

Corvallis SCHOOL DISTRICT

HS GED Preparatory Program

Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 1:00-3:40 / may change to after school

Time Requirements: Approximately 8 hours per week

Program Description: The Corvallis School District contracts with Linn Benton Community College to provide an instructor to guide students through the GED program. Students use an online tool to build necessary skills and take each test when they demonstrate that they are ready.

Cost for courses: No fee (GED test is free if student qualifies for free and reduced lunch).

Student Supports: Upon GED completion, each student works with their instructor and district staff to develop a transition plan to support successful enrollment in college coursework, certificate programs, or employment.

Program Description: LCSD GED program uses an online learning tool with the access of teachers to instruct individually or a small group based on need. The program has a “transition after GED” component.

Cost for courses: No fee

Student Supports: LCSD GED provides career and job support and will arrange for the students to tour organizations in which they have career interests.

HS GED Preparatory Program

Program Description: PHS incorporates online learning, traditional book work, blended learning, small group direct instruction, and individualized instruction based on need.

Cost for courses: Refundable $50 deposit

Student Supports: Student curriculum addresses relationship building, self-image issues, character strengths, and resiliency. PHS works in direct conjunction with our YTP program to provide career and job support, and to arrange for the students to tour organizations in which they have career interests.

SWEET HOME
