Subject: Career Closet Giveaway Was a Success---Thanks to You All!

Thanks to All who donated clothing, worked and/or helped set-up/take-down for our first ever AAWCC Student Career Closet Giveaway!  I estimate we collected 2-3 times the amount of clothing as usual (in other words 3 Dodge Caravans full)!  We served a total of 86 students who left with 1 to 22 items of clothing plus toiletries, jewelry, shoes, etc.  Over 95 people came in to view the items yet we still donated more than our usual amount to the Center for Prevention of Abuse:  about 10 large boxes of clothing and over 150 hangers of clothing items.  The room of 308B worked exceptionally well since it served as an advertisement with all the windows both for our student shoppers but also our employees who donated clothing after seeing what was going occurring!  Evening hours were not well attended, but the 11 AM – 1:30 PM time attracted student shoppers almost constantly!  The Job Fair on Wednesday caused us to open during that time as well; we served GED students from Common Place and shirts and ties were also taken to Southside Mission.  It is a simple service project with using 308B and General Operations helped so much in moving the collected items to 308B and finally to The Center for Prevention of Abuse.  Thanks to all!  Janice
