GOOGLE ACCOUNT Students may create a Gmail/Google account so that they will have access to their work at home. Students will not use the account to e-mail while when we are in school. They will need it to access Google Docs for items that I have shared with them or that they are collaborating on with another student. Use of the Google account will also allow students to work on assignments when they are absent. CLASS EXPECTATIONS: Students are expected to abide by Cooper Middle School’s behavioral expectations plan, as well as, my class

guidelines. Cooper’s students are expected to exemplify the highest levels of the five R’s of Cooper: Respect, Responsibility, Relationships, Rigor, and Relevance. Students should arrive on time to class prepared each day. A detention will be assigned when students are tardy to class. Disruptive class behavior will result in an automatic detention. Referrals will be given when warranted. Students are not allowed to have any drinks, candy, food, snacks, or gum in class at any time. ATTENDANCE/MAKE-UP WORK It is extremely important that students come to school and class every day. When students are absent, they are missing projects, materials, and lectures that many times cannot be repeated. Students who miss class time will be allowed to make up any missed work outside of class within three (3) days of returning to class. This can be done between 8:15 a.m. – 8:50 a.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Just notify me of the date that your student will be brought in early. If a student is absent, he/she is expected to print the needed documents from the class blog. CLASS BLOG Please visit http://bit.ly/yap6bb to see projects, classwork, and homework assignments. Students are deducted 10 points per day up to three days when turning in homework assignments late. Assignments will not be accepted after that deadline. EXTRA SUPPORT/TUTORING: Parents are encouraged to activate their Pinnacle Internet Viewer (PIV) account so that they may stay abreast of their student’s grades. Pinnacle username and password can be picked up from the main office Monday – Friday 8:15 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. Tuesday - Thursday are the days that I will be available to work with students who need additional assistance or to make-up work. I will be available 8:15 a.m. – 8:50 a.m. each of those days.

Do not cut this section off of the page, return the entire syllabus. You may download a copy for your records, from my class blog. I have read the syllabus and I have discussed it with my student. I am confident that he/she fully understands what is expected of him/her at all times in this class. I also understand that my child may receive a detention and/or referral if warranted. I also am aware that my child should not have any drinks, candy, food, snacks, or gum in class at any time.
