CARE database
• The CARE data base is an EU initiative
• Council Decision 93/704/EC on the creation of a Community database on road accidents.

• identify and quantify road safety problems
• evaluate the efficiency of road safety measures
• determine the relevance of Community actions
• facilitate the exchange of experience in this field.

Process : • filling accident reports by road police on the spot of the
accident
• quality checks and validation of completeness are made by
the competent authority ( Transport, Interior or statistical
offices) at country level
• national road accident databases based on the individual
police reports are created
• the complete database is sent to the EC ones per year
• EC apply uniform rules for quality control and completeness
• upload on CARE
