AboutOsama

Osama will be speaking on…

“There’s more change coming in payment technology in the next five years then there’s been since the credit card itself was invented.”

Osama BedierFormer Vice President of

Payments and Wallet, Google, Founder and CEO, Poynt

We often ask ‘who will win the mobile wallet war?’ The answer is the wallet that is able to integrate commerce into the wider payment experience. It will be the wallet that allows you to browse, purchase and enjoy the product, all from your mobile phone.

If you ask Osama Bedier, he will tell you that commerce is broken. The industry was built in an age of cash registers and while the retail industry has advanced, payments have lagged behind.

Why is this? When we all carry around a supercomputer in our pocket?

There are number of obstacles that stand in the way of allowing mobile wallets to enter the mainstream payment industry. One of these obstacles is choice; how are consumers able to choose a mobile wallet when there are so many options available in the market?

Here is where Osama comes in. With experience at the world’s leading payment organisations, Osama will talk us through the changes that need to be made to fix the commerce industry.

Consumers need to change their habits for widespread mobile wallet usage and this can take time. This is something that Osama has first-hand experience with, as witnessed at Google Wallet. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to catch a true payments guru as he takes the stage on the 13th May.

They payments veteran who gave us Google Wallet

Anyone who is anyone in the

payments industry knows who

Osama Bedier is.

He began his career with two of the industry’s best; first heading up product

development at PayPal before taking over the helm of the

payments division at Google. It was at Google that Osama

pioneered Google Wallet, which was launched in 2011.

Osama’s experience makes him a much wanted investor and

mentor for new payment start-ups. Osama now sits on the board

of Silicon Valley start-ups Qiwi, Coin, PayRange, WePay and his

own company, Poynt.

Osama is a superstar of the industry and one of the most influential personalities in the payments sphere. Join him to make sure you don’t miss out

“For the 5th year I have visited Cards and Payments Middle

East, growing rapidly which was great opportunity for our company to participate as a sponsor as well as exhibitor for the second

year, the business lead generation is absolutely far bigger than the investment to participate”

Hany Fekry | Commercial Director | EMP

“This event is unique, it’s a must-be place. It brings together all the payment industry decision-makers from the Middle East

and African region. We have seen the event growing both in scale (number of exhibitors and visitors) and in maturity, where the quality and

quantity of speakers have been raised year by year. Our ROI on this event has been high, and some of the leads we obtained at this event in the past

have already become our customers. We appreciate Terrapinn’s creativity, as they offer interesting networking formats to help companies connect and

exchange targeted information.”
