Welcome Address The Egyptian Society of Cardiology in its 37th Annual Meeting welcomes all the participants, speakers, chairpersons and attendees from

Egypt and from all over the world. The conference this year chose the Slogan “from Basic Knowledge to High Tech.”.

During the 5 working days of the conference, senior participants will have the chance to communicate and actively share with the

faculty of the meeting the latest trials and the most recent innovations and the newest technology in different fields of Cardiology,

whereas the junior physicians will have a wide variety of sessions explaining and presenting the basic knowledge needed by them in both

clinical cardiology, basic imaging and basic EPS. The Working groups of the Egyptian Society of Cardiology are participating by special

session(s) during the meeting.

Workshops will be discussing echocardiography, Multislice CT Cardiac Imaging & Myocardial Perfusion Imaging, please take this chance

to know these techniques from basic rules to advanced imaging protocols.

The conference this year have 48 guest speakers from USA, Canada, Europe, and the Arab World and more than 360 Egyptian Speakers

and Chairpersons, 107 Session, 450 Lecture, 137 working hours & 7 halls working simultaneously.

We are honored by the participation of prestigious international societies by special sessions, namely the Royal College of Physicians &

Surgeons Glasgow, the European Society of Cardiology, the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, Cleveland Clinic Foundation and

the Saudi Heart Association.

This year the scientific program of the conference had been accredited by the American Academy of CME 32.5 hours Category 1 credit of

the AACME Designation.

We advise you not to miss three important sessions; Imaging of Ancient Egyptian Mummies by multislice CT (session 13), the center of

Excellence registry (session 77) and the mind & heart state of art by Prof. Ahmed Okasha (session 89).

We wish you all fun and fruitful CardioEgypt 2010.

and QOL in CAD and HF in clinical trials and as tools for improving patient care. Dr. Spertus has been

working on translational research – both with basic scientists to illuminate the prognostic significance of

genetic and other biomarkers on cardiovascular outcomes and with outcomes researchers to implement

multivariate prediction models into clinical care using a novel, web-based technology that he co-developed

o Computers used in the conference are PCs loaded with Microsoft Office 2007.

o Please use Microsoft PowerPoint XP or later version to prepare your presentation

o If your presentation includes movies, be sure to create a folder including your presentation & movie files or

sound clips. This will insure that all the tools used to create the presentation are readily accessible on the

show site, should the need arise to modify the presentation.

o Please remember that your movies should be in MPEG1 format. AVI files might not work properly on all

computers unless special codec is used. MOV is not a compatible format to be run inside PowerPoint.

o DICOM players will be available in all computers serving the conference.

o Speakers are not allowed to use their personal laptops whatever the reason is. Strict rule are applied in this

matter. Apple users must prepare a PC compatible CD or DVD loaded with their presentation(s).

o Only digital media is allowed as a tool to present data, namely CDs, DVDs, Flash memory &/or external hard

o The duration of the presentation is controlled digitally through computer software that will end

the view when time is up, thus we value your understanding to stick to the dedicated time.

o If you are participating in a debate: so you have 10 minutes to defend your opinion and so is your

con., then during the rebuttal you may present two more slides in response to your con. opinion.

o If you are presenting a case: so you have 10 minutes to completely present your case ending by a

clear take home message in one slide, each case will be followed by 2-3 minutes discussion.
