Carbon Footprint

Submitted by:Raj MohanObjective of Research Everyone is talking about climate change, and the term "sustainability" has become one of the most important criteria in economic planning. This research helps in estimation of carbon emission that causes global warming

What is carbon footprint? A carbon footprint is "the total set of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions caused directly and indirectly by an individual, organization, event or product. For simplicity of reporting, it is often expressed in terms of the amount of carbon dioxide

AnalyticalFundamental QuantitativeConceptualConclusion orientedType of research 4Research approachQuantitative approachQualitative approachInferential approach

Research processFormulating the research problem The research has been carried out to estimate the emission of carbon by an individual which contributes to the global warming.

Method of data collectionThrough questionnaireGeneral form- structured questionnaire

4 sections in questionnaire:Home energyDriving & flying Home energyFood & dietRecycling & wasteType of universeinfinite universeSampling unit/ Sample frameworking peopleSize of sample32Sampling DesignArea sampling, non-probability samplingRating Rating- estimates the magnitude of a characteristic

Rating Scale used:- Graphic Rating Scale Summated ScaleScale Properties(a) nominal scale(b) scale construction technique:- item analysis approach, Summated scale/ Likert- type Scale

Nominal scaleA nominal scale is a list of categories to which objects can be classified.Frequency distributions are usually used to analyze data measured on a nominal scale. The main statistic computed is the mode. Variables measured on a nominal scale are often referred to as categorical or qualitative variables.

Attitude MeasurementThree components of attitude measurementAffective- the feeling or affection towards an objectCognitive knowledge and beliefsBehavioral- Predisposition to action Intentions Behavioral expectations

Arbitrary rating ScaleSummated Scale or Likert Type Scale

The scale is used either as a summated scale or as an individual scale item. When used as a summated scale, each item is summated to produce an index. Odd numbers of response categories (five, seven, and nine) are usually used, as well as the least popular even number of responses, which are called force-number Likert scale.

Inference

Avg footprint value = 16.5Lower limit of footprint is below 10
