Southern Scenic Route Commence the Southern Scenic Route (SSR) at picturesque Queenstown and drive along the banks of Lake Wakatipu towards New Zealand’s Fiordland National Park. Continue to Western Southland, stopping to find your fortune at rugged Gemstone Beach. Continue to the sleepy seaside town of Riverton and visit Te Hikoi Southern Journey Museum for an insight into the Maori and European historical settlements. Wind on to Invercargill, the most southerly point. Continue through the Caitlins region, where native forests meet rugged cliffs and sandy beaches. Finally, stop in Dunedin to explore the heritage and wildlife.

Arthurs PassTravel from the cosmopolitan city of Christchurch, on the east coast of the South Island, and find yourself in the town of Greymouth, on the west coast, in just over three and a half hours and 255km. There are no major towns along the way, however you will be able to take in the magnificent and varied scenery of the Southern Alps as you wind along the coast-to-coast route. Greymouth is the largest town on the west coast, originally settled by gold miners. You can still try your luck and pan for gold, or get some thrills from the water sports and natural wonders.

Twin Coast Discovery Highway (Cape Reinga to Kaitaia)Start your journey of exploration in Cape Reinga, one of the most northern points of New Zealand. The Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean clash and you can view the tidal race from the lighthouse. Travel south east on Highway 1 along vast, rolling plains to Houhora Heads, past Lake Waipareira and onto Kaitaia. Explore Ninety Mile Beach. Stretching further than the eye can see, this beach features secluded bays, shipwrecks and impressive sand dunes. The area is especially perfect for cooling off in summer.

Be amazed by New Zealand’s landscape: boiling mud pools and geysers on the North Island or travel to the South Island for some winter fun in the stunning Southern Alps. No matter what floats your boat, you’ll be sure to find it in New Zealand.

The Classic New Zealand Wine TrailThree wine producing regions, the capital city and coastal waterways combine to create the Classic New Zealand Wine Trail. It’s called the Classic Wine Trail as you will pass more than a 100 cellar doors along the way!

The drive takes you from Hawke’s Bay in the North Island to Marlborough in the South Island, so take your time. Drive through Hawke’s Bay, where you can find the oldest vineyards in New Zealand, famous for their Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and all within easy reach from Napier by car. Drive to the summit of Te Mata Peak for panoramic views of the Hawke’s Bay region. The next region on the trail is Wairarapa. Here, the wineries are mostly family owned, with the focus always on quality rather than volume.

Drive to Cape Palliser to see the fur seals and climb the 258 steps to the lighthouse for spectacular views. Further south, Wellington is the nation’s capital and filled with top quality restaurants, bars and cultural experiences. You can walk from one end of downtown to the other in under 30 minutes, but you might want to slow down and enjoy the various culinary options. Take the ferry to the South Island and visit Picton and Blenheim, in the heart of the Marlborough region. Marlborough wowed the world with Sauvignon Blanc, putting New Zealand wine on the world stage. Be sure to enjoy the local wine with the region’s renowned mussels, Pacific Coast seafood, salmon and wild game.

What is Insurance Excess?Most car rental rates include basic insurance – Collision Damage Waiver Insurance (CDW), Third Party Liability and Theft Protection (TP). In the event that a rental vehicle is stolen or accidently damaged (whether the driver is at fault or not), Insurance Excess is charged. The Insurance Excess is the maximum amount the renter is liable for. The cost varies depending on supplier, country and vehicle type, for example, it can range from EUR500 to over EUR1,800 in France.

DriveAway Hire Car Excess Insurance is an optional product offered by DriveAway Holidays to refund the excess amount charged by the car rental supplier in the event of an accident or vehicle theft.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much does DriveAway Hire Car Excess Insurance cover?You will be reimbursed up to AUD5,000 of the damage and theft excess amount charged by the car rental supplier in the event of damage or theft of the vehicle.

Is the daily rate charged for every rental day?Yes. The charge is between AUD6.50-8.50 per day depending on the car group.I have paid for DriveAway Hire Car Excess Insurance. The car rental supplier states that they have never heard of it and insist I take out their damage and theft excess cover. Should I take out their excess cover as well?DriveAway Hire Car Excess Insurance is an agreement between you and DriveAway Holidays. Supplier excess reduction options may be available directly from a supplier at an additional cost. If the renter accepts any excess reduction offered by the supplier they are not entitled to a refund from DriveAway Holidays, Accident & Health International Underwriting Pty Ltd or CGU Insurance Limited.

Is my credit card still frozen at the time of collecting the vehicle if I take DriveAway Hire Car Excess Insurance?Yes. The full excess amount will be charged in the case of theft or damage, however the amount is recoverable up to AUD5,000 from DriveAway Holidays provided all claim conditions are met on your return home.

How do I make a claim?To claim excess charges you must provide the following to DriveAway Holidays:• Rental Agreement with the driver’s name matching that of the

DriveAway Voucher.• A completed claim form. You can obtain a claim form by visiting

www.driveaway.com.au or emailing enquiries@driveaway.com.au• A police report (if applicable).• An accident report or theft report from the car rental supplier

(if applicable).• A receipt of the excess being charged by the supplier and a copy

of the client’s credit card.• The repairer’s invoice which confirms the final repair costs

(DriveAway Holidays will assist you to obtain this). Upon receiptof the above forms, DriveAway Holidays will assess your claim.

Do I get a full or partial refund if I don’t make a claim?No, once the rental has commenced, DriveAway Hire Car Excess Insurance is non-refundable.

Do I need DriveAway Hire Car Excess Insurance if I have travel insurance?We recommend you check your travel insurance policy to ensure you are sufficiently covered.

Lease�Forms�Upon confirmation you will also receive Lease Forms from us. In order to register your new car in time for your holiday it is essential that we receive these forms from you, completed together with a copy of your passport 6 weeks prior to the commencement of your lease.

Before�Collection�Once payment is received you will receive from us a documentation pack which includes your Exchange Voucher, along with further information to assist you with your Peugeot Lease holiday. Simply print the voucher, present it to Peugeot on arrival at the collection location and you will be on your way. Your voucher will include:

• Our reservation number and the Peugeot confirmation number.• Your complete lease details including dates, times, collection

and return addresses, as well as the local supplier’s contact details.

• A list of what is included in your booking with us.• A list of what is not included in your booking with us.• Conditions relating to your booking.

Amendments�Should you be required to amend your reservation prior to collection we would be happy to do so for you. If your car has been registered and already delivered to the collection point additional fees may apply.

Cancellations�Should you have to cancel your reservation prior to collection additional fees may apply.

Refunds�No refund will be made on any part of a booking provided and not used. This includes unused days lease.

Vehicle�All Peugeot vehicles are left hand drive (including collections in London). The definition and/or specifications of the Peugeot vehicles displayed in this brochure are subject to change without notice.

Duration�Minimum lease period is 21 days, excluding the Expert Teepee where the minimum is 35 days. Maximum 175 days. Peugeot Leasing is based on calendar days.

Refunds�No refund will be made on any part of a rental provided and not used. This includes unused days rental.

Vehicle�Type All vehicles are reserved by group. Models shown are examples only and a similar vehicle may be supplied. Specific models and/or literage cannot be guaranteed.

Winter�Tyres For rentals from November to March winter tyres may be compulsory for travel to some European countries. We recommend that winter tyres are fitted between November and March when driving to the German, Swiss and Northern Italian Alps. Not available with all vehicle types or all suppliers. Contact DriveAway Holidays for full details.

Security�Deposit All car and motorhome rental companies require a minimum of one internationally recognised credit card (Prestige/Luxury cars require two credit cards) for a security bond. Cash security deposits are possible in some instances but must be requested in advance. Strict conditions apply. Contact DriveAway Holidays for details.

Optional�Accessories Child seats, ski racks, snow chains, winter tyres, GPS, etc should be requested at time of booking and are subject to availability upon arrival. Additional fees apply and are paid locally.

One�Way�Rentals If you return your vehicle to a different location than its origin (be it international or domestic), you will incur a one way fee. Charges and conditions vary between suppliers and car types. Details will be advised at time of reservation. If you vary your drop off point, additional charges may apply.

Geographic�Restrictions It is important to advise your Travel Agent and/or DriveAway Holidays at time of booking if you intend to drive your rental car outside the country of rental as conditions and charges may apply. DriveAway Holidays takes no responsibility for problems occurring as a result of non-advice.

Travel Insurance can be arranged through your Travel Agent.LIABILITYLiability: Certain provisions of the Competition and Consumer Act (including, without limitation, the Australian Consumer Law) and other State, Territory or Commonwealth laws in Australia, as amended or replaced from time to time, (collectively “ACL”) apply to the operation of these terms and conditions and provide consumers (as that expression is used in the ACL) and others with certain rights (referred to collectively as the “consumer guarantees”) in relation to goods or services purchased by those persons. Other than consumer guarantees, which are not excluded, modified or restricted by this provision, DriveAway Holidays does not give any guarantee or warranty or make any representation of any kind, express or implied, with respect to the supply by DriveAway Holidays or others of any goods or services in this brochure. Other than in respect of goods or services supplied to consumers or goods or services that are of a kind ordinarily acquired for personal, domestic or household use or consumption, DriveAway Holidays’ liability for the breach of any condition or warranty, whether express or implied (other than warranties or conditions in relation to title, encumbrances and quiet possession) is limited, at DriveAway Holidays’ option, to:- in the case of goods; the replacement of the goods, the supply of equivalent goods,

the repair of the goods, the payment of the cost of replacing the goods or of acquiring equivalent goods; or

- in the case of services; the supplying of the services again or the payment of the cost of having the services supplied again. Subject to rights that the Customer may have under the ACL, which are not excluded, modified or restricted by this provision, DriveAway Holidays is not liable to the Customer or any other person, whether in contract, tort or otherwise, for any loss or damages (including without limitation specific, indirect, consequential or economic loss) howsoever caused arising from any event.

Notwithstanding anything contained in this brochure, nothing in these terms and conditions:- excludes, restricts or modifies or purports to have the effect of excluding, restricting

or modifying any condition or warranty that is implied by, or consumer guarantee specified by, the ACL or DriveAway Holidays’ liability under any such condition, warranty or guarantee; or

- gives rise to any liability on the Customer’s part or qualifies DriveAway Holidays’ liability in circumstances where DriveAway Holidays is in breach of these terms and conditions, including any conditions or warranties implied, or consumer guarantees specified, by the ACL.

All Information is subject to change without notice. The Customer must not rely on this Information. Any descriptions of the goods or services of any third parties in the Information is by way of identification only and the use or reliance on that description by any person shall not constitute any contract between that person and DriveAway Holidays as a sale by description. The Customer must make their own independent enquiries and investigations and undertake their own assessment of any Information before deciding whether or not the goods or services referred to in the Information are suitable for the requirements of the Customer. Without limiting the generality of this paragraph, city maps in this brochure are not to scale and car depot locations in this brochure are approximate only. Supply of Goods or Services by Third Parties: The goods and services identified in this brochure may be provided by a third party. In order for the Customer to obtain goods and services provided by a third party, the Customer may be required by that third party to agree to, and be bound by, terms and conditions that are specified by that third party. Any person intending to enter into an agreement with a third party must make their own independent enquiries and assessments in relation to the effect of the terms and conditions of that agreement before doing so. Subject to rights that the Customer may have under the ACL, which are not excluded, modified or restricted by this provision, the Customer acknowledges and agrees that DriveAway Holidays has no control over and no responsibility for any terms and conditions agreed between the Customer and a third party.THIRD PARTY LIABILITY (DAMAGE OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE)Provides cover for public liability and is subject to the car rental company’s terms and conditions on the rental agreement. DriveAway Holidays strongly recommends travellers purchase travel insurance to cover themselves and their passengers.GOVERNING LAWThese terms and conditions are governed in all respects by the law of the State of New South Wales and the Customer irrevocably submits to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of New South Wales and the Federal Court of Australia.
