an Automatic Headlamp system that instinctually

activates the projector headlamps in low-light

which, alongside the integrated fog lamps,

Even when parked, the Captiva is still working to

provide you with a sense of security; the Automatic

Parking Lamp keeps the headlamps lit for up to

30 seconds after locking the car, helping to

illuminate the path to your front door. The Captiva

also comes equipped with an Automatic Rain

Sensor system that activates the windscreen

wipers when rain is detected and modifies the

wiper speed in accordance rain intensity (LTZ

only). Even in heavy rain, you can be confident

that your vision will not be impaired with the help

of electronically foldable side-view mirrors that

contain a heating filament to prevent misting and

condensation.

ACCESS THE CAPTIVA WITH KEYLESS ENTRY using

the remote control key-fob and ensure greater

security with the automatically activated

immobilizer.

THE LUXURIOUS NEW INTERIOR is comprised of

light grey leather with a wood-texture trim

and 8-way electronically adjustable front

seats (LTZ only). It also features a 5+2 seating

formation that can be adjusted to suit your

needs. The third row functions either as

additional seating, accommodating a total of

up to 7 passengers, or when the seats are

folded down, as extra storage room.

All passengers’ needs are taken into consideration

in the luxurious new Captiva, right down to

the 3-level third row air conditioning outlets

and Dual Climate Control system that allows

you to create separate temperatures on the

left and right side of the car.

ENCOUNTER A SUPERIOR DRIVING EXPERIENCE

DIESEL ENGINE The Captiva’s 2.0 Liter DOHC diesel

engine delivers smooth, responsive performance

when driving in the city or off-road.

The 2.0 Liter Diesel engine has a 4-Cylinder,

16-valve Diesel DOHC structure and fluctuant

turbo with a maximum power of 163 horsepower

(120 kilowatts) and 400 Newton/Meter of torque.

It ensures a quiet, comfortable ride without

sacrificing responsiveness or fuel-efficiency.

BENZENE ENGINE The 2.4 Liter Double CVC benzene

engine delivers a finely tuned balance of power

and fuel-efficiency due to the pioneering

technology of the ECOTEC engine.

The 4-Cylinder benzene engine with a Double CVC

Flex Fuel System provides an astounding

maximum output of 167 horsepower (123 kilowatts)

and 230 Newton / Meter of torque. The ECOTEC

engine system as a whole benefits from significant

advancements in engineering, making it compat-

ible with the environmentally friendly alternative

fuels E20 and E85.

6-SPEED DRIVER SHIFT CONTROL allows you to

shift between gears semi-manually while the

transmission automatically calculates the perfect

moment to make the transition using a

calculation based on torque, vehicle speed,

engine speed and speed-per-round. Working in

conjunction with the automatic 4-wheel drive

and ESP system it stabilizes the vehicle, achieving

optimum vehicle performance. The TCM

(Transaxle Control Module), activated by ECM

(Engine Control Module), provides the most

fine-tuned performance possible while also

working to reduce wear to the engine and

transmission.

Picture shows a sharp turn to avoid sudden obstacles; ARP system starts by distributing the braking force of the left wheel in order to avoid overturning. Picture shows how the ESP system works in conjunction with the TCS system in order

to help maintain balance, control the car's skidding and prevent over / under steering.

SAFETY A rigid body structure protects the

structural integrity of the car in the event of a

collision while side safety beams help to absorb

the force of the impact. Inside, state-of-the-art

curtain air bags run down the length of the

Captiva’s cabin and powerful pre-tensioner seat

belts provide comprehensive protection to both

driver and passengers.

SUSPENSION A smooth, comfortable ride is

achieved with the implementation of independent

MacPherson strut front suspension, stabilizer

bars and a 4-point multi-link independent

system at the rear. The Self-Balancing Integration

system features a Self-Levelizer system that

adjusts the ride height and tension of individual

components to deal with unbalanced loads.

POWERTRAIN Active on Demand 4WD (AWD)

powertrain is an electrically controlled and

commanded system. In normal road conditions,

the system will transfer power to only the front

wheels in order to save fuel. When conditions

change, such as when driving in rugged, slippery

or muddy conditions, its sensor will instruct the

Active Coupling Differential system to transmit

torque from front wheels to rear wheels

automatically in the ratio of 50:50, 60:40, 70:30,

or as appropriate to the road conditions in order

to achieve optimum performance on all routes. It

works in tandem with Active Torque On Demand

System, finding the correct level of power

distribution between the front and rear axels.

STABILITY The Captiva’s 360-degree Prevention

and Control Assistant System operates 6 separate

functions in perfect harmony to ensure that you

always retain complete control of every situation.

ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System)

A system that prevents wheels locking under

forceful braking.

EBD (Electronic Brake-Force Distribution)

A brake-force distribution system that decreases

stopping distance.

TCS (Traction Control System)

A system that controls slippage and prevents

wheels from free-rolling.

ESP (Electronic Stability Program)

The ESP helps the brakes and engine work in

harmony to achieve better traction.

ARP (Active Rollover Protection)

A rollover protection system that equally spreads

braking force to all four wheels so that the

vehicle can quickly regain proper control.

HBA (Hydraulic Brake Assist)

Applies extra braking pressure when necessary

to bring the car to a prompt and safe stop.

HDC (Hill Descent Control)

When descending a steep slope,

activating Hill Descent Control

will make the engine and brakes

work in cooperation to limit the

speed of the vehicle for a safer

descent.

HSA (Hill Start Assist)

Hill Start Assist prevents the

car from beginning to roll while

the momentum is achieved to

take off from a parked position

on a hill.
