What is Caption Tube

Caption Tube is a web 2.0 tool that is used to add

captions to videos viewed on YouTube.

Caption tube provides a scaled time line that

makes it easier to cut and paste and insert

accurate closed captions to the video.

How does it work?

•First, you will upload a video from your computer or from YouTube that you

want to add captions to. You can take a prior video from YouTube because

that is a public website.

Logging In

Log onto Captiontube.com

Create a new username and password.

use that username and password to access caption

tube. ***

Next, you can load a video from your computer or

Disadvantages

Requires a lot of time to edit videos. Can require

the teacher a lot of additional time to incorporate.

Sometimes, because the way the videos are

made, the captions may be a little off with timing

due to the chopiness of cutting.

Overall, this is a useful and successful tool that

can be used for classrooms to relay additional

information.

A lesson plan example can include listing the

class’ homework at the end of the video and the

students can copy the homework down.
