The talk will also cover the build project of RRS Sir David Attenborough and explain how the capabilities of the new ship will be used. About the speaker: Captain William Whatley joined the British Antarctic Survey in November 2008 as 3rd Officer on board RRS Ernest Shackleton. Will was gradually promoted up through the ranks, gaining command in August 2015. Will has been working on the RRS Sir David Attenborough project since April 2016 and will take command of the ship when she comes into service. Will is also a keen cruising sailor who has just completed building a 47' expedition yacht with his father. Housekeeping: There is a charge of £4.00 a head for RIN and CA members to attend the talk. Please let the CA know if you are planning to come along. There is a 5% discount on supper in the bar on lecture nights if you confirm before 5pm on the Tuesday that you are planning to order food.
