•Milan's fashion history has evolved greatly throughout the years. Milan began as a centre of fashion in the Middle Ages and Renaissance, as in Venice and Florence.

•In 2009, the city was declared as the "fashion capital of the world" by the Global Language Monitor, even surpassing its relative cities. The next year, Milan dropped out of the top four falling to sixth place, yet in 2011 it returned to fourth place.

• Milan ,the second-most populous city in Italy, serves as the capital of Lombardy. Milan is widely regarded as a global capital in industrial design, fashion and architecture

•Milan fashion week including more than 40 shows each season transforms the city into a touristic hob by simply creating various venues for the shows selecting the most elegant and influential palaces to become the stage for design.

Aside from the standard studios and showrooms, many of Milan’s fashion shows are held in historic, outdoor landmarks—like the Piazza Duomo (Milan’s central square and home to the city’s cathedral), the courtyard of the Castello Sforzesco (a 15th-century castle), and the Arco della Pace (triumphal arch located in Parco Sempione).

TRENDS

Page 13: Capital milan

•There’s always been two prevailing beauty teams in Milan:1. The ultra sexy bombshells (Versace, Roberto Cavalli, Dolce &

Gabbana) 2. The wonderfully wacky (Prada, Marni, Fendi).

It’s obviously much easier to convey the former.

But it’s the latter that’s always so much more exciting to witness, and this season was no exception

•Milan Fashion Week’s beauty trends were all about celebrating Freaks And Geeks.

Florals Victorian ruffles dresses, preferably long and loose, were among the top looks for Spring 2016.

In an ultra-fem season, a near-bald scalp gives edge to frills and lace for women whose style leans more to the brooding side.
