Weholite HdPe pipes are at the forefront of

technological innovation and development. the

core competencies within our business, such as

production and fabrication, transport, design and

installation, give us a strong competitive advantage

over traditional materials.

Asset offers a comprehensive free design service.

this is inclusive of structural calculation in

accordance with bs en 1295–1: 1998, “structural

design of buried pipelines under various conditions

of loading” in order to determine the deflection

values and the Fos against buckling. Asset

also offers flotation calculations combined with

advanced finite element analysis results, in order

to visualise the behaviour of the pipe under buried

conditions. Furthermore, Asset offers extensive site

and after sales support.

Weholite falls into the structured wall family of

pipes. Invented in the mid-eighties by KWH Pipe, it

is now protected by a number of worldwide patents.

one being the continuous spiral winding process

that allows a wide diameter range of, in Asset’s

case, 400mm to 3500mm and the ability to produce

individual lengths of up to 30m in-house.

the profile design allows us to utilise bespoke

stiffnesses if needed. our design prowess and

reputation as recogonised problem solvers and

solution providers now means that we have a

proven track record in the uK water industry.

Weholite pipes hold a Kitemark and are

manufactured in accordance with bs en 13476-2:

2007, using state of the art extrusion equipment.

With four production lines, we are capable of

producing more than twelve thousand tonnes per

annum and have total flexibility on length; offering

anything from 300mm up to 30m. We have a vast

diameter range, 400mm to 3500mm, covering the

offering that traditional materials provide; but the

difference is that we can tailor the stiffness to suit

the project. Pipes can be joined in a variety of ways

from the non-watertight plastic band to the 100%

watertight teekay mechanical coupler or hand

extrusion weld, to the full penetration machine weld

for marine applications. standard Weholite can be

used at a continuous operating pressure of 1 bar,

with lP Weholite suitable for pressures up to 2 bars.

the factory also houses a specially equipped

6000m² pre-fabrication unit. one of the real

benefits of Weholite is its ability to be prefabricated

into a vast array of bespoke components that

provide unique solutions to the end-user.

Asset International limited (Asset) is part

of the Hs utilities Group of Hill & smith

Holdings plc. Hill & smith Holdings plc

is a decentralised manufacturing group

specialising in serving the infrastructure,

building and construction industries.

Asset started life in 1953 as the main

european manufacturing base for Armco

Construction Products and became famous

for the W-section safety fence that can

still be seen on motorways today. Armco

also manufactured corrugated steel bolted

structures known as multiplate and spirally

wound corrugated steel pipes.

In 1995 Asset acquired the uK license to

manufacture and sell Weholite from KWH

Pipe of Finland, one of the world’s most

innovative plastic pipe companies. KWH Pipe

continues to heavily invest internally, allowing

the company to manufacture state-of-the-art

processing machinery. Asset is the world’s

largest producer of Weholite.

In an era when global warming is having a significant

effect on our climate and catastrophic weather

events are devastating local communities, the use of

innovation is of vital importance. As environmental

issues continue to rise up the political agenda, the

water industry is being forced to look towards more

innovative solutions that play a part in reducing

carbon footprints.

Weholite pipes can contribute significantly towards

the greener objective. looking closely at all stages of

the process, including production and transportation

as well as installation; the carbon footprint of

Weholite is significantly lower than traditional

materials, in particular concrete.

Weholite pipes can be delivered in very long lengths

and can also nest, a practice that drastically decreases

the number of lorry loads, meaning less emissions and

subsequently less disturbance for local communities.

It is also widely recognised that by using Weholite, the

overall installation time can be reduced due to the long

lengths and light weight properties, as well as the ability

to prefabricate fittings and complex sections.

Asset offers carbon footprint calculations for every

scheme, aiming to help water authorities achieve their

ultimate target of minimising carbon emissions. All

calculations are in accordance with the carbon footprint

calculator that has been developed by the environment

Agency uK. It is considered to be one of the most

comprehensive tools in the construction industry.

Applications include:

• Groundairheatexchangers • Anaerobicdigestionvessels • Geo-thermalchambers • Aboveandbelowgroundrainwater • harvesting tanks

• Intakestructures •ModularBoxes • CSOcontrolchambers • Pumpingstations • Flowcontrolchambers • Ventilationchambers
