Windmeul Cellar is situated on the slopesof the Paarl Mountain. The first vines were planted in this area some 300 years ago by the French Huguenots recog-nizing the potential of the land. The vineyards cover an area of some 1,700 hectares within which are a wide variety of soil types. An early morning mist exerts a cooling influence on the vines as well as adding wel-come moisture in the non irrigated vineyards, where the grapes are almost entirely handpicked.
