2011/2012
Definition:Experiencing wind,waves andkitesurfin vibe in
AFRICAN KITESURFING SAFARIS2.O FROM CAPE TOWNTen days of exploring 20+ kitesurfing spots starting from Cape Town...and to take it to the next level in
excitement, you get to do the most exciting sports we could find around Cape Town.
Cape Town is one of best kitesurfing
locations in the world, and by far the best
kiteboarding location in South Africa. With
over 20 kiting spots in this part of South
Africa, there is a beach suitable for every
type of kiteboarder; from epic waves to
butter flat riding spots. Every year between
November and March the world's
professional kitesurfers flock to Cape Town
to train. Cape Town is blessed with 5-6
days of wind per week for kiteboarding.
Wind often starts around 11 am at 13-15
knots and steadily builds throughout the
day to around 35 knots, allowing for
whatever type of wind you want for
kiteboarding.
The safaris will focus on kitesurfing for
intermediate and advanced kiters, but will
also have a mega-mix of Adrenaline
Boosters.
You will use Cape Town as a basecamp, but you will go out for 2 or 3 days to
get the maximum amount of kitesurfing and
Adrenaline Boosters, then head out in the
other direction. In the evenings, you will stay
in a mix of beach front accommodations to
local hostels, depending on the area we are
in.
Each morning, we pack up the
Mercedes cruiser and head to our next kite
beach. With wind blowing in your face we
will cruise down the famous South African
highways feeling the kite life. Once we get
to that spot of the day, you may join in our
FREE 2 hour small group kiteboard lesson.
This is so you will advance as a kitesurfer
over your safari and go home with nothing
but big ass smiles on your face. After the
kiteboard lessons if you chose to partake,
you spend the rest of the day kitesurfing the
waves or butter flat water, chilling, eating,
kiteboarding, relaxing and hopefully
kiteboarding some more. Driving home
afterwards, you will definitely fall asleep in
The Kite Life stylin Mercedes and when youopen your eyes, you will be back to have a
few beers with our new found friends and
swap kiteboarding stories.
WHICH AFRICAN PATH TO TAKE?
Adrenaline BoostersTo make your kiteboard vacation
to fabulous Cape Town even more
memorable, we have created
Adrenaline Boosters. Including but
not limited to skydiving, abseiling,
shark cage-diving, a game
reserve and a townshipexperience for the mornings
before the wind starts.Allincluded in the price.

EndorsementI got to meet with Gabe from The Kite Life and a couple of their guests when i was back in my home country South Africa for few
weeks and was fortunate enough to tag along. I was super impressed with the professionalism and hospitable service that they
gave making sure that your stay is as comfortable and stress free as possible, even the price is a bargain for what you get;
definitely an all in one adventure where memories are priceless for what you pay. I highly recommend The Kite Life to my friends
and anyone wanting an adventure of a life time.Clinton Bolton, professional kitesurfer
We will try to adhere to this itinerary as much as possible, but ultimately we are all about finding the best wind
Testimonial
Cape Town with The Kite Life
which was an amazing
experience! Gabe is a really good
kite instructor, who gave me a lot
of useful tips during the trip. We
also went to some great spots that
I would never have found myself,
and we had good accommodation
all the places. So yeah, very
recommendable :-)Tobias Storm, Denmark

By taking a safari with The Kite
Life, you join a select few who
simply want the best out of life.
You are not scared to chase your
passion of life and kitesurfing. We
have not set a rock bottom price
on these safaris because we are
not trying to get every singleintermediate and advanced
kitesurfer to reserve a spot. This
is an awesome product and well
be damned if we let anyone have
it who hasnt got the passion and
guts to run with it. We want
doers, not buyers.
You can reserve your African
Kitesurf Safaris 2.0 spot for only
999 Euros. There are 25 spots
available over the 5 departuredates. You can reserve your spot
at www.thekitelife.com
FlightsCape Town International Airport serves both domestic and international
flights. It is the second-largest airport in South Africa and serves as a major
gateway for travelers to the Cape region. Cape Town has direct flights to most
cities in South Africa as well as a number of international destinations. Flying
time is around 12 hours, but if you sleep on the overnight journey, youll be
bright-eyed and without jet lag on arrival; as the time difference from
somewhere like London is only 2 hours.
VisaFor stays of up to 90 days, visitors from Europe and the USA require only a
passport, which needs to be valid for at least another six months. Make sure
that at least two to three pages are left blank for official stamps as you may
otherwise be refused entry. A valid return ticket is required upon entry. If you
intend to stay longer than 90 days in South Africa, you can extend your Visa
up to another 90 days.
SafetySouth Africa's major cities have received much negative publicity about crime,
and while there is a high degree of media hype, it can still be a problem and
we would not be fulfilling our duty to make you aware of this. On the otherhand, some people imply that to visit Cape Town will almost inevitably result in
you falling victim to crime. This is simply not true. According to the South
African Police Service Cape Town's crimes usually take place in suburban
townships rather than in the more upscale urban areas where tourists visit.
Most of the Cape Town areas violent crimes happen between people who
know one another..."
Health issuesCape Town is clean and developed and you don't need to worry about
contracting rare African diseases here. The water is drinkable (from the taps)
and there is no risk of Malaria or similar diseases. It is not necessary to get
any special vaccinations. Medical services are of a relatively high standardcompared with other African cities.
LanguagesWhile the most commonly spoken language in Cape Town is Afrikaans,
English is most commonly understood here. But, as English is only one of
South Africas 11 official languages, a strong vernacular has developed, and
English-speaking visitors might have a hard time recognizing some of the
words. But Cape Town is a friendly bunch of people, so if youre totally
confused, just ask and soon youll be speaking South African now now!
SIM cardsYou can buy a sim card for your mobile phone at any supermarket or cell
phone shop for very cheap (one or two Euros). Almost every supermarket orpetrol station sells recharge vouchers to top up your phone.
Kite repairCape Town has several top-notch kite repair businesses. You can also get
parts and supplies for most major brands in Cape Town.
What to bringValid passport. Camera with plenty of memory. Personal medications. Travel
insurance is optional. Light jacket as evenings can be cool. Electrical adapter.
What NOT to bringUnnecessary jewelry, watches, expensive belongings, etc.

Embarrassing Kite Moment
One day I showed up to kite at my local
beach on St.Croix in the Virgin Islands
and there were several pros there to
ride. I wanted to show off so bad that I
tried a trick I had been working on andripped my board shorts right down
middle! Good thing the photographers
werent snapping me that day.
Me...Gabe Webber
This is the story of a businessman who sets out to kitesurf around the globe. Meet Gabe Webber, a hedge
fund economist who replaced a neat office routine with a life of adventure and adrenaline.
Dropping his safe job and home within only 3 weeks, Gabe is now living the dream many wish to reach a life
dominated by wind and waves. Three years and four continents later, the IKO kiteboard instructor is living proof that
chasing your passion can be easy and highly rewarding.
Throughout the years as a clever and versatile traveling IKO instructor, Gabe carefully examined the kitesurf industry.Using his economics background, he gathered research material and evaluated trends.
With a rapidly growing group of intermediate and advanced kitesurfers around the globe, Gabes decision to cater to
this specific target group opens new opportunities in kitesurf travel. His recently created company, The Kite Life, offers a
large variety of kite safaris - always off the beaten track and always with that extra kick of adrenaline.
The safaris are made for people who are, above all, interested in kiting unique spots with high caliber coaches, but who
also crave for a more adventurous and cultural experience.
Gabe Webber has gathered a large amount of expert kitesurf and travel knowledge, from cold big wave water in South
Africa to warm flat-water bays in the Caribbean.
After many adventures seeking for new spots, he is now ready to share this knowledge with you. That is what The Kite
Life is all about joining the true kitesurf lifestyle and indulging in adrenaline and culture on a daily basis.

TestimonialGabe is a truly excellent, knowledgeable and helpful instructor who I will always thank for properly introducing me to
kiteboarding -- an adventure which started back in Costa Rica. He's patient, chill, extremely well-traveled (with lots of
stories and advice) and a great guy to have a drink with after a long day on the water. One and a half years later I've
kited on 5 continents!Eric Schute - New York City
