View films in our theater. Programs on Canal History, Canal Critters and Canal Wildflowers play continuously throughout the day.

Learn the Corp’s role in transforming a 300-year-old dream into a safe navigable waterway. Each summer, Park Rangers lead regularly scheduled tours through the Center.

School groups, community groups and tour buses may schedule a free group tour or program by calling the Visitor Center.

The primary purpose of the Cape Cod Canal is to serve as a safe navigable waterway, saving up to 166 miles of coastal travel around the tip of Cape Cod.

Since 1928, the US Army Corps of Engineers has been responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Cape Cod Canal.

The Canal is also operated as a safe and enjoyable Federal recreation area. The Cape Cod Canal welcomes the company of more than 3 million visitors each year.

Discover the rich history, fascinating features and vigilant operation of the Cape Cod Canal and the US Army Corps of Engineers through various displays, exhibits and public programs. The Cape Cod Canal

Come on aboard a 40-foot patrol boat! The patrol boat RENIER watched over the Canal’s waters for 25 years, enforcing regulations and rendering assistance to vessels in distress. Today, as the central figure inside the Visitor Center, the RENIER continues to encourage safety on the water.
