Canva is a design tool website and app for creating designs and documents, such as invitations, posters, flyers, logos, resumes, personal and business cards, and much more.

Founded in 2012, Canva is now used by over 10 million users (from beginners to professionals) around the world.

With Canva, you have access to lots of free graphics, photos, and fonts. This way, you can create beautiful designs and documents, and express yourself!

1 Go to www.canva.com

2 Select Sign up to sign up with email or your Facebook account.

3 Enter your name, email, and password.

Write your password here:

4 Click Get Started, it’s free!

5 On the “Welcome to Canva!” page, select Personal as the reason for using Canva.

6 You’ll see suggestions for designs popular for personal use. You can select any of these suggestions, or you can enter something else in the search box like “card.”

7 Your editor page will open. Now, get ready to explore this page and create new designs!

Creating in CanvaThere are four basic steps to using Canva.

1 Choose a template. Select a template from the side menu in the editor page. Click to select and it will appear in your workspace.

2 Edit. Select the element that you would like to edit by clicking on it. Click until the text or element is highlighted and start editing!

3 Upload. If you want to include a personal photo or video, select Uploads from the menu. You’ll be given the option of browsing your computer or dragging and dropping the image or video file.

4 Share or Download. Once your creation is ready, you’ll to share it! There are several other options for sharing your final product, so it depends on what you’re creating and how you intend to use it. Click on the downward arrow, Share, or the More icon (3 horizontal dots) to explore to see what option works best for you.

The Editor Page

Now that we’ve covered the basics, let’s take a closer look at the editor page and the tools in the side menu. Look for the FREE templates, photos, and elements. If you see PRO those are for paid, Pro accounts.

Templates are customizable, so you can change the texts, colors, or images.

Search millions of photos to use in your designs!

Choose from Canva’s icons, graphics, shapes, stickers, charts, and grids.

Search Text to use fun font combinations!

Quickly change the color combination and font style of your design.

Explore stock video footage to add an interactive element to your design.

It’s important to play around with Canva and explore the different features it has to offer. You can easily Undo (left) anything you don’t like and then Redo (right) if you change your mind! Canva automatically updates and saves changes, just make sure that you see All changes saved in blue at the top of the page before closing out of your design.

To return to your projects in another session, simply click on All your Designs from the menu on the your Canva homepage.
