FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Thank you to all families for your understanding regarding our postponement assemblies and our 3-way parent/teacher/student interviews.

We have been asked by some parents to do the 3-way interviews over the phone. The complexity with this is that I do not allow teachers to use their personal mobile phones for school based interactions and the school only has two (2) lines available. All toilets have hand towels and soap. Please talk to your child about the importance of not wasting these resources and the need to be sensible in the usage of soap and towels.

All classrooms have soap dispensers and hand towels. Classes with vulnerable students also have hand sanitiser.

Sporting events including PSSA and trials have been postponed until further notice.

Some parents have been concerned about sending their children to school. There has been no known cases of student to student transmission od COVID-19. If your child is nor unwell, please ensure they attend school.

KG - MRS VAESSEN

KG are coming to school with big smiles each day ready to be the best students they can.

In History, we have been investigating how all families look different and how special family events are celebrated. We are also learning about the special country we live in and identifying significant Aussie icons.

We have enjoyed learning cricket skills with an expert cricket coach for sport. This is helping us with our hand-eye coordination skills as well as encouraging us to participate in new activities.

Counting to 30 everyday is helping us to learn our numbers. We have even been practising counting backwards from 10 like a rocket. This week we are working on adding two groups of objects together. KG also love counting how many days we have been at school on our 100’s chart.

Thank you for bringing in your Readers Club cards. Don’t forget, only one box can be signed for one night (not a box per book).

PE - MS FLETCHER

This Term, I have the pleasure of teaching 5/6A, 5/6L, 3/4W, 3/4S, 1/2K, KG and KB. All my classes have been enjoying being outside in the sunshine learning new skills and developing their game sense approach. Primary classes have been participating in invasion games, which develop the students spatial awareness, team work and cooperation skills. Each class has been working on their dodging, catching and throwing skills and also anticipation and timing. We have been playing games like Run the Gaunlet, Teepees and Indians, Horse and Jockey, The Castle’s Treasure, Donkey Tail, The Wasp and Silly Ball. In the coming weeks, students will continue to develop their motor skills. Infants classes have had a great time practising catching, throwing, skipping with a rope, striking a ball with a bat, running, dodging, hopping, running, galloping and using these skills in modified games. KG and KB have settled well into school routine and PE lessons are always fun and enjoyable to teach as the students try so hard to perform their skills with little errors. Future champions in the making! Some students are really enthusiastic and it gives them an opportunity to shine outside the classroom. Towards the end of the term, students will be participating in their School Cross Country Carnival (TBC). I encourage all students to keep being active everyday. Play outside, eat healthy and limit screen time. A healthy body, healthy mind and a healthy attitude are all important for future success. Enjoy the rest of the Term.

5/6L - MISS CAPSTICK

5/6 L has had an extremely busy term of learning and fun. In English we have been learning all about friendship and mateship and analysing different texts that portray this. We watched the movie 'Wonder' and built our home base for learning surrounded by the great messages sent through this film. We have had a great time preparing our assembly item around our own version of Wonder and look forward to showing it in the future. History has been a blast from the past this term, with students working hard on researching 'How and why Australia became a nation'. Everyone is planning scripts and preparing old time documentaries to film and edit in their groups. Some are coming together nicely and we cannot wait to see the finished versions. We have been having fun with Science this term, learning all about electricity and have we have begun some of our STEM challenges.

Our planned PBL exhibition that was going to take place tomorrow has been cancelled and Stage 3 will create a Power-Point of all class projects to be sent home on USB .

INTRODUCING … MISS TOVO
