Java

I The only third party software needed by CanReg to run.I Already installed on Macs, most Windows machines, and

many Linux machines.

I Available free of charge from:http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

PostScript Viever

I Some of the tables generated by CanReg5 are PostSciptfiles. (PostScript is an open standard, so you can usemany different tools to view them.)

I Mac OS X and most Linux-distributions come with tools toview them by default.

I On Windows, the tool I recommend is the open sourcedand free GSview.

I First install GhostScript:I Available free of charge from:

I Then install Ghost View:I Available free of charge from:

I To do more advanced analysis CanReg5 calls R scripts.I R is a free software environment for statistical computing

and graphics. It compiles and runs on a wide variety ofUNIX platforms, Windows and MacOS.

Two different ways

I Depending on your computer and your needs you caninstall CanReg5:

I Using the zip file (Works on all computers).I Using the automated installer (Windows with admin rights

only).

I Both available for download at http://www.iacr.com.fr/

The zip file

I Download the zip file: CanReg5.zipI Unzip to any folder of your choice.I Optional: Create a link to your desktop/start menu.

The installer

I Download the installer: CanReg5-Setup.zipI Unzip and launch CanReg5-Setup.exeI Follow on screen instructions.

Registry specific

I Each registry can collect the variables they want.I These are defined in System Definition files (XML format)

Install an already made system definition

I If you’ve already got an existing system definition set up foryou, you can install that using the “Install New System”option after launching CanReg.

Restore from a backup

I If you’ve got a backup of an existing CanReg5 system youcan restore that using the “Install New System” option afterlaunching CanReg and click “yes” when CanReg asks if itshould restore the detected associated backup.

Tailor an already existing system definition

I Load up an existing system definition XML, for example thetraining system

I Rename itI Add/remove variables and dictionaries, change coding

schemes etc.I Save XML and log in to CanReg5

Migrate from CanReg4

I There are built in tools in CanReg5 to help users ofCanReg4 with the migration.

Remove the software

I If you used the automated installer:I Go to Control panel, add remove programsI Find CanReg5 and click “Uninstall”

I If you used the manual installer:I Delete the folder you unzipped CanReg5 to.

I This will only remove the software itself

Remove the data

I Delete (or move away) the folder called .CanReg5Server inyour user’s folder - or the user that run the CanReg serverapplication. This contains the data from the CanReg5system.

I Delete (or move away) the folder called .CanReg5Client inyour user’s folder- or the user that run the CanReg serverapplication. This contains your settings.

I Optionally you can also delete the log file generated duringa CanReg5 run - located in the user’s folder.
