Before Immigration to Canada in 2011, I served on various executive positions globally like regional head of Alstom power in Saudi Arabia / Dubai and Country Manager Pakistan (Power Gen Division) and supporting regional activity for Alstom Malaysia. Contributed in building up the renewable energy and traditional energy resources of Pakistan. Currently working as Territory Sales Manager Eastern Canada with Madsen Controls providing overall plant controls solutions in Canada.

Involvement with NEDAC:

Actively participated in various activities as member of NEDAC. Played a major role in initiating online election process, being a committee member, and kept it transparent and coordinated with all respected NEDAC members for updates. Never compromised on the interest of NEDAC. Actively involved in social activities and academic support to Nedians during the tenure of NED and was the elected class representative (CR). Any volunteer experience:

Since last 9 years I have been involved, on individual basis, to support community and social work whenever I get the opportunity to do it. Based on my contact with Industry I supported nedians and new commers in finding the right carrier and referred them wherever possible.

Your vision about NEDAC (How can you contribute to the growth and development of NEDAC?)

NEDAC seems to me the best platform to work on collective basis rather than doing it individually. I want to serve the community by sharing my experience, contacts, and opportunities for professional and personal development of new commers and our children. I feel that it is our responsibility to take part in building a strong and professional community to get a recognition as the best Pakistani Origin Canadian Citizens. I will also work to create a strong connectivity among NEDIANS.

As Finance Secretary my plans are:

To post all accounts of NEDAC on Website for transparency and smooth handover for future boards.

To increase the number of Scholarships to the needy students of NED University.

To file TAX RETURNS every year in order to be in complaint with CRA.

To strictly monitor and control on finances & avoid extravagance expenses.

Beginnings

NED University, where I graduated in 1993 in

Civil department and the platform that makes

me connected with You! Started my first job at

Paragon Constructors (Pvt.) Ltd. worked on

projects as Arabian Sea Country Club and

Aga Khan Sports Complex, a company that

keeps me in their good books to date.

Adventure Starts

Married and with 3 kids moved to Canada in

Shahid Chishty graduated in the year 1989 from Electrical Department in NED. He continued his

education after graduation and joined IBA in the MBA program. Shahid has worked in several

multinational companies in progressive roles. In the initial part of his carrier in Pakistan, he

worked in process industry and then focussed on power systems including installation, testing,

commissioning, designing and troubleshooting of electrical systems, while working at AEG

Pakistan.

Shahid moved to Saudi Arabia and worked in Saudi Aramco in project management. In the late

nineties he moved to Canada and utilising his business and electrical background worked for

Schneider Electric in Corporate Marketing and progressed to Program Manager dealing with

Low and Medium Voltage Switchgear.

In the early 2000 he accepted a position with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) where he is

working since. There are a number of functions within OPG where Shahid worked and helped

improve and create several processes for the company.

Most recently, Shahid is working in the Darlington Refurbishment Project which is the most

critical project for OPG.

Shahid has held elected position in the 2016-2018 Board of NEDAC as Publication secretary,

where he totally transformed the NEDAC Publications and brought them to new levels. During

his term as Publication secretary most quarterly newsletters were issued covering different

aspects of NEDAC events.

Shahid had also held elected position in the Board of Directors of PEEL Condominium

Corporation.

Shahid likes to travel and help with community work.

Shahid has a 17 year old daughter and a 16 year old son.

PROFILE

Ahmed Shahzad has more than 25 years of professional experience in contract administration, quality

assurance, project management and coordination in highways, wastewater treatment plant, power

plants and bulk water supply projects etc. Ahmed has excellent management and organizations skills

with problem solving and quick decision making capabilities. He is highly motivated individual with ability

to provide timely and practical solutions on design and constructed related issues.

Since his arrival to Canada in 2014, he has worked in different quality assurance and supervisory

positions with Town of Oakville, R.V. Anderson Limited, MTM Landscaping and TABCON Engineering.

Ahmed started his career with Engineering Consultants International and worked there till 1993. He has

worked with leading Consulting organizations from 1993 to 2013 in the capacity of Senior Engineer /

Project Manager / General Manager on various projects including Bin Qasim power station, Korangi

power station, Mauripur sewage treatment plant and Karachi Bulk Water Supply etc.

VOLUNTEERING

I worked with Karwan-e-Hayat Foundation in Pakistan as administrator and field worker in providing

assistance to mentally challenged persons. Organized different activities and regular outings.

During my studies I was actively involved in sports activities. I participated in social events including

student week and new admission help desk. I also involved in arranging picnics and other events for

our class. I was a member of committee which published directory of our batch. During my M.S

(Environmental Engineering) I was chair to arrange industrial tours.

MISSION

My vision is to bring everyone together whether it is part of managing social events, training or by laws

meetings. I will work to make NEDAC one voice which translate to positive and dynamic culture and

expand the NEDAC horizon to organize social events with culture that reflects unity among NEDAC

members. I will organize events with more in house participation for the members and by the members

and will ensure that the events maintain decorum of a professional Alumni. I will make efforts to

substantially increase member participation and raise the bar of quality of the events.

INVOLVEMENT WITH NEDAC

Have been actively involved in NEDAC activities. I have attended most of the events conducted by

NEDAC including annual dinners, picnic and other technical seminars. I found it a great platform for

NEDians to achieve goals of career advancement.

Farheen graduated in Electrical engineering from NED University, Pakistan in 2007.Then she completedher master's degree in engineering management from Eastern Michigan University, MI, USA. in 2017.Farheen is skilled in electrical system design of high-rise buildings and has strong accomplishments in theMEP design industry. She has been working in the MEP consultancy field for the past 14 years. Currentlyshe is working with a leading engineering consultancy firm in Toronto, Canada.
